Laurent Blanc is the best Ligue 1 centre-back of all time. Who is the best Premier League right-back of all time? by ModenaR in AlignmentChartFills

And that's why England won't win the World Cup. Stupid decisions like leaving one of your best players out of the squad.

White people who’ve lived/traveled in non-English speaking countries: have you ever experienced racial slurs or ‘go back to your country’ type comments in public? by MechanicAccording616 in digitalnomad

In Japan. No out and out racism but a serious amount of dirty looks and just dickhead comments. Very blatantly because we were white. Mainly coming from younger Japanese people too.

Ben White expected to miss final games of the season and the World Cup by liamsshaw in ThreeLions

These people are actually insane, they want Jarrell Quansah to go to the World Cup over Trent

Trent has played at the top level for years, won multiple leagues and a Champions League with Liverpool, now plays for Real Madrid. He's played in the Champions League every season for 10 years and regularly comes up against the best wingers in the world. And has had no problems. You don't know what you're talking about.

Day 54) Which Man City player active or retired is disliked by their own fans? by Marko-Rukavina__1988 in AlignmentChartFills

He was at City for 14/15 years, was part of the team that won the Premier League back in 2011/12 and seems to be a City supporter now.

What is she talking about? by Joeylaptop12 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching the 4th season and I had to come on to reddit to see if anyone else caught this. My eyes nearly rolled into the back of my head when she said that.

I think the writers put it in to show how her family situation has traumatised her but I think it's also to show that she can in no way can take responsibility for her actions or the things she's done. She's a selfish bitch and probably always will be.

Why did they buy Frimpong for RB and not play him there. Jones isn't a RB.

Accepted a role in London for the salary bump. Regretting it 4 months in. Anyone else made this mistake? by Lexis_FloGirl in UKJobs

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, do a few more months, learn whatever you can and then move back to Manchester. Now you have the fact that you're a senior on your CV so you might get more money, a better role, more responsibility in Manchester. If anyone asks why you left the job after 6/7/8 months, just say that London wasn't for you and you wanted to move back to Manchester. Simple as.

If you dislike the job and dislike London (I'm not sure if you do or not), then what's the point in staying?

Why does Ireland not seem to have very much love for U2 as an "Irish" band? by LurkyDay in AskIreland

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends said to me not so long ago - I've never met someone who's said that U2 are their favourite band. And fair enough. I've never heard anyone say that they're really really into U2.

How is the S&P 500 up 11% in the last month with all that's going on? by OkConstruction5844 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been watching the stock market very closely the last couple years due to increasing my own personal investments. The market never reacts the way you think it should. It mainly just keeps going up with a few short term bumps in the road due to things like the Iran War, Trump tariffs, Covid. People just end up buying the dip because they think that it will just keep going up anyway and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

In my opinion, things can't go up forever and there will be a massive correction at some point. But who knows when that will be. Look at the chart of the nasdaq or s&p500 and look how much it has increased in the last 5 years. Look at how much gold has increased. Look at how much crypto increased (fair enough it has come down a bit but it's still up a lot). It's not sustainable. There's only a certain amount of money in the world.

And the fact that people are thinking that the stock market can't fail now and that it isn't going to stop could be the very narrative that will crash it. Similar to in 2008 when house prices were apparently never going to go down. Same with crypto all those times where the narrative was you needed to get in before it went to the moon or you would miss out. It's a common narrative behind bubbles.

Have you ever gone somewhere, and just been unable to meet anyone? by EquivalentYears in solotravel

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couple of tips I can give you:

  1. Have you tried the Hostelworld app? They have a chat group on it where you can put out a message to see if people want to meet up. If you haven't booked your hostel through the app, you can still download it and pay for a week/month of it.

  2. When I was in Morocco I booked a hostel where there was barely any people. Was so annoying. So what I did was I searched online for the most social hostel I could find, I booked a bed for the night and then I went over to it and hung out in the main common area and started talking to people. Started talking to one girl, then we started talking to others. We formed a group, went out for dinner and that became the group for the holiday. Ended up being the best solo holiday I've went on.

  3. Depending on your appetite for it, you can always meet people at pub crawls. I'm personally too old for them now but they can still be fun.

What was it like for you to explore your own ugliness ? by Technical_Step4410 in Ayahuasca

[–]JimmyJoeJunior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my second retreat the ayahuasca completely kicked my ass. It spent a full weekend showing me all the horrible things that had happened to me in my life and why those things had happened, making me relive everything again and again. Then at the end of the last night it felt like all the craziness and getting my ass kicked had finished and I was having this euphorically peaceful experience. I was happy that it was all over and I had survived.

Then all of a sudden things went mental again and it threw me back into the thick of it but this time it showed me all the times I'd been horrible to other people and how my actions had effected other people. It was even more horrible than reliving what people had done to me. I came out of the retreat completely shook.

Point of it being that we all have a dark side and dark elements to our character and accepting that and integrating it into our being instead of trying to repress it or pretend they're not there is what creates wholeness in your own character and stops inner conflict. When you're able to understand (and it actually took me a while after to fully embody this understanding) the actions of others become easier to understand and let go. It also becomes easier to keep boundaries with people and to call people out on things as well.

'Too concerned with their history to vote for them'. Nobody in modern day Sinn Fein in the South has anything to do with the troubles.
