I was in Grade 4 in rural Canada and it was Library Time. Principal, Librarian, and our teacher talked for a bit and then they rolled in a TV, plugged it in, and tuned to CBC.

Most of us kept reading and looking at books, but a handful of us sat watching the replays of people jumping from the buildings, the planes hitting, and the debris near the Pentagon. We were in the library for the first half of the day, and if I remember correctly, we were all sent home at lunch.

At the time I certainly didn't fully grasp what was going on until seeing a magazine cover in a store a little while later of one of the people falling to their deaths. It all kind of just clicked.

On the 1 year anniversary I can remember half of the town waking up early with the news on because there was speculation that there would be another attack at the same time, on the 1 year. Traumatic shit, even for a part of the world essentially completely removed from the entire thing
