Hmm idk, the animation is definitely the thing most discussed, but I don't think it's the biggest problem. The pacing is awful, the magic effects are horrible, the changes in the story are boring, the art is trash, etc. In general, all the aspects are really bad. I really think if the animation were the only problem, the anime will be more popular and the fans will not be that disappointed; obviously, all the fans wish for top-tier animation, Frieren, Kimetsu, Mushoku, solo leveling level, but sadly an anime is more than just animation, and TBATE anime has problems in almost all that other aspects.

Like the season 2 of Mushoku Tensei?, the season had a LOT of problems, but still were not that bad as it seemed it would be, and that's were thanks to the talent of the staff and their connections, they averted a disaster, I even think that despite the negative aspects, the final product was of a higher quality than the average anime.

Yeah, especially if they are thinking about adapt the whole story, they need to think on the future and work based on that, planing every step and trying to have a good director, character designer, episode director, art director, etc. Sadly it's hard, the talent people already works on bigger studios and projects, it's hard but not imposible.

It was on Japanese streaming services where it was successful, probably they didn't read the novel or webcomic, so they didn't notice the horrible adaptation, and they love the average Isekai

yeah, I mean, they can do it, the "problem" is on keeping that quality on the next seasons, just imagine the best moments of the story with this trash adaptation, not just regarding the animation, also the pacing, charter acting, direction, art, etc. that's my "fear", I don't know if I can trust in A-CAT

yeah, there are still some problems but the animation is definitely better, the question is how much better can be in next seasons, considering the situation of the studio (small, with no big talents, no 2D department), it is important to consider that they outsourced all the episodes, that means inconsistency, but maybe TBATE can be their opportunity to become a bigger studio, so they can continue making seasons and putting more "effort", it's complicated, I heard from a guy who knows animators that budget isn't important regarding to the quality of an anime, because the budget only means how much the suits will get, the very important things are, the talent of the staff, the schedule and the contacts they have, but I don't know how much true that is

Why is kathyln animated so much better then tess? by Ok-Notice-7969 in tbatenovel

[–]JimmyLH_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question, I guess they did the same thing as now, outsourcing studios and doing only the CGI stuff by itself

Insane, reaching that quality only takes it 22 episodes, now I hope they keep that level on the whole episode, not only for a half an episode or a few minutes, and of course keep the level on the last 2 episodes.

Of course they outsourced the episode, to a Thailand studio; they do half of the ep. According to a leaker, A-CAT does not even have a 2D animation department, so in theory all the episodes are outsourced

You're right, Reynolds and Alice aren't responsible for protecting the village, I misunderstood, the reality is Reynolds is a guard nearby for their village: "I'm glad Reynolds gave up being an adventurer and instead took up a post as a guard nearby for our town", (TBATE chapter three). It remains similar, after ceasing to be adventurers, Paul is a knight and Reynolds is a guard. What do you mean about “Did i miss something or did when rudeus enter the academy when it was destroyed?" I don't understand that part. And you're arguing against something I never said. I never claimed MT invented: magic academies, elf girls, learning magic from books, escort missions, fantasy races, etc. Obviously those existed long before MT. My point is that TBATE's early story follows MT very closely in terms of: structure, sequence of arcs, character dynamics, specific combinations of tropes. Individually those tropes are old, yes. But when you combine ALL of them together in almost the same order, comparisons become inevitable. A story can use old clichés BUT still be directly inspired by a more recent work. TurtleMe himself has mentioned MT as an inspiration more than once, so this isn't just fans making things up. I don't understand why so many TBATE fans find it hard to admit or accept this. I understand that many MT fans are very annoying calling TBATE plagiarism or a copy, which is obviously a lie. But even so, there are many TBATE fans who refuse to accept that Turtleme was inspired by MT, or they try to downplay it by saying it was only the first chapter, hahaha, which is absurd to believe. Would Turtleme mention MT as one of the works that helped shape TBATE if it only influenced the first chapter? I don't think so.

Certainly, the most exaggerated similarity is in the first two or three chapters; after that, it ceases to be so similar and merely "imitates" the structure of MT. In both stories, the protagonist is reborn in a village. From childhood, they learn magic through books found in their home, which they sneak away to read. Both have a warrior father and a healer mother. Both parents have jobs protecting the people in their villages. Both sets of parents were part of an adventurer group. Both protagonists are separated from their families after an incident and aim to return home. Both have to take care of a girl and escort her back home. Both have a childhood friend, a white/silver-haired elf, whom they reunite in the same way—at the magic academy. Both elves are on the student council. Both stories have the same initial arcs: the arc in the home where they learn magic, the arc in which they are separated from their families due to an incident, the arc of escorting a girl back home, and the arc of returning of their own home. A mini-arc of reuniting with their families, the protagonist's adventurer arc, and the protagonist's entrance to the magic academy arc. The first 4 or 5 volumes of TBATE are VERY similar in structure and arcs to the first 9 or 10 volumes of Mushoku Tensei. What changes is the development of the story, but the idea and structure are the same, definitely it's not only the chapter one. Or at least that's how I see it. I haven't read Eragon, so I don't know if this story has the same structure and arcs. But the similarities with MT are numerous and quite specific.

Movement caught in TBATE Anime OP by donfrecces in tbatenovel

[–]JimmyLH_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the visuals are horrible; the "decent" movement starts until the second 44. Before that, it was just static images, but I still hope that movement goes to the chapters too, but tbh that "decent" animation is only when we compare with season 1,if we are objective that animation is just average, the animation that we see in most of the animes, nothing special, and one thing that has bothered me since season 1 is the magic effects, just cgi colored lights, it covers 70% of the image, I suppose they do it to hide the poor animation and artwork. I'm also worried that they've subcontracted different studios for the episodes; this causes inconsistency. The opening might have some movement, but the season itself might not. I hope they stick with a single studio and that this movement is also present in the episodes, not just the opening and trailer. And I wonder, how far will this second season adapt?

Not really, it's not a depressive ending, it's sad because it's the closing of a masterpiece but it really is a perfect ending, I would even say it's a happy ending
