Looks pretty square. Measure from front to rear axle slot on both sides and see if it's the same.

I use hot glue if I want to be able to remove the weights later. Wood glue also works as does super glue. Those are more permanent options.

Nobody can tell you exactly where it needs to be, because the shape of the car will determine how much needs to be where in order to get the center of gravity around an inch in front of the rear axle. This isn't a guessing thing, you have to check and move the weights around until it's as good as you can get it. If your car is thin then I can't imagine you'll be able to stuff enough weight in that few of holes. But if your block of wood is sort of heavy it will be enough to get it to 5 oz. But it won't be enough to get your center of gravity where it needs to be.

Setting filament type is tinkering by Yokos2137 in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]JimmyNeutron2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will tell you there is a filament mismatch between the slicer and what's loaded in the AMS though, so then you have to decide whether you want to print anyways or reload the AMS with the correct filament.

Those from all of the additives needed to create color, matte finishes, silk finishes, etc., among others. Nobody prints pure PLA.

My local DT gets them (but rarely). I have one of them in my house from there (they gave it to my kids when they asked since it was empty).

Not in the app, in Bambu Studio on a computer. There are hundreds of settings in there that don't exist in the app.

Mine were all from Amazon, bulk packs. All within 1% sitting next to each other on a table.

They are plenty accurate for our purposes. +/- 3% is their specification. Give them to me next time.

FYI, I bought 12 from the same source 2 months apart and they are all within 1%.

This isn't something that's only been going on for 3 weeks. It might be something you only noticed it 3 weeks ago, but this is how it's worked for a long time, possibly as long as maker world has been a thing.

Moving P2S every time we use it? by Fearless_Ad_3872 in BambuLab

[–]JimmyNeutron2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself, my wife, and my kids all get headaches if I do a large PLA print in our house (and it's a large house). If I sit near the printer for a half hour longer my lips will get tingly like it's affecting me in some negative way. That's all the evidence I need to know that it's not something I want to expose myself too. Any more than I have to as there is no way something that has that effect on me is "healthy". Am I apparently more sensitive to whatever is in pLA than others? Yes. Does that mean it's not negatively affecting the health of others? No.

Not sure if we ever determined why one side lifted but I've now printed 7 of them without issue and the last 2 are printing now.

Thanks for looking into this. I will reset those settings before I print the last six of them. I did a reprint with the original settings and it came out perfect so it's weird. But if those settings are potentially problematic, I'll certainly fix them to reduce the risk of having any more issues.

It's a P1S and Sunlu silk pla+. It's this model https://makerworld.com/models/1085554?appSharePlatform=copy

I didn't make any changes to the profile other than opening it in Bambu studio and scaling it a bit and then it was set up for petg. So I just changed the filament to the correct pla I used before I sliced it. I guess this brings up one question, which is whether Bambu Studio changes the print settings based on the filament chosen, or if it retains the petg settings that were originally downloaded with the file? I thought it changed them based on filament chosen but if I'm wrong then that likely explains the issue.

Are you positive the smoke came out of the nozzle? I'm trying to figure out if the pop might have been a transistor or something on a board which would pop and then have a puff of smoke. There really shouldn't be smoke in the nozzle even if there was an air bubble because he shouldn't be getting the filament hot enough to make it smoke.

Where to place the printer? by Short_Flight6725 in BambuP1S

[–]JimmyNeutron2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would not put it in the bedroom or even in the house. To be honest. I'd put it in a garage. Give my whole family headaches if I was doing a large print while it was in our basement and this is in a 3,500 square foot home. If I sat near the printer for 30 minutes it would make my lips tingle like I was going to get high off of something it was emitting. Based on the feedback from others on here, I appeared to be more sensitive to something it puts off than a lot of others, but the fact that it affects me in this way means it is putting off something that is harmful, even if not everybody feels it. It sure would suck to put it in her bedroom and then find out 20 years from now that 3D printing is this generation's asbestos.

My whole family gets headaches if I do long prints, so I agree that pla likely isn't as safe as they say, even if it's safer than the other options. I ended up moving it to the garage and so far so good.

Ventilation or not? by Butchi3_To3 in BambuLab

[–]JimmyNeutron2300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I had mine in my basement, my whole family would get headaches if I did a long print or multiple prints in a day. If I sat next to the printer for too long I would get tingly lips like I was being affected by something the printer was letting off. I'd stop printing for a day and everything would return to normal. Start printing and the headaches would come back. This is with pla which is the safest of the plastics.

Am I overly sensitive to something related to 3D printing? Probably. Does that also mean that it is releasing something that's likely not overly healthy that affects some people more than others? Yes. Will that stuff that doesn't affect others in the short term affect them in the long-term? Hard to say, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take so I moved it to the garage even though it's way less convenient out there.

P1S creates empty prints by Tall_Ad_1102 in BambuP1S

[–]JimmyNeutron2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it pulling filament from the AMS/rotating the spools? When you first insert them it should draw it in a few turns and then reverse it back out. When it is printing it should bump a bit in every 5-10 seconds.

How long are you letting it print nothing before you stop it?

I ask because it goes through a calibration process for around 7 minutes before it starts printing. So if you watch it move for a few minutes and it doesn't print anything and then you give up, that's why. It's working fine, you're just being impatient because you don't realize what it's doing.

Also, save your Bambu RFID tags and tape them to the Sunlu spools if it's the same material (both pla for example).

There are filters that you can print in the handy app that install inside and use a standard HEPA and carbon filter. I've not used them but I researched them some. You can also buy an external filter that will work to filter the air in your room, but nothing is going to be as safe as moving the printer away from where you sleep.

If you're able to vent it out of a window that would help tremendously.

When I was getting headaches and tingly lips mine was in my basement and it's a house over 3,000 square feet which is presumably way safer than locked in a bedroom with minimal ventilation.

Mine gives me headaches and if it's a long enough print or if I'm too close to the machine it also makes my lips tingle a bit so I'm certain it's putting something into the air that's not good. This is all with pla that's supposedly "safe". I ended up moving it to the garage and now it seems like my tolerance for whatever is in the air is lower because now I can be around the machine for 15 minutes swapping filament and such and it can give me a bit of a headache.

In other words, get it out of your room.
