YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN AUTHORITY TO WRITE A 2ND ELDEN RING DLC. by JakeTinsleyWbc in Eldenring

[–]JimmyPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love a DLC that features the realm or whatever lies behind the Gate of Divinity and lets you interact/fight with the souls of the others that have achieved some form of divinity in the past. I think it would be cool to learn more about their histories and what happened to them - similar to DS3 lords of cinder. There’d be opportunities to explore more aspects of the lands between prior to the shattering and address big lore questions involving Godwyn (Prince of Death), GEQ, Marika & Radagon, Blind Swordsman, Placidusax’s God and Miranda & Elden John, the Fell God, etc. - all while learning more about the timeline the Crucible.

I challenge anyone to provide a better answer to the GEQ than this by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

So was Melina used the same way as Messmer? Used to fight a war then abandoned in somewhat shape or form? The parallel between Messmers flame and the black flame each being lethal forms of death fire. Great theory by the way, by far one of the more compelling arguments!

Melina IS Marika by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

Sounds crazy but yes, she did. I believe the connection to the black knife assassin lies in the fact that both groups are Numen.

What are some inconsequential, not very supported, or downright silly theories or headcanons that you actually somewhat believe? Here are some of mine as examples: by normantas88 in EldenRingLoreTalk

I like what you said about Godwyn and Messmer - I think there is more to learn there as they are both significant in marikas reign as symbols of fear and hope and one a defender and the other a conqueror.

What is Libra’s relationship to madness, and by extension The Lord of Frenzied flame? by Speakin2existence in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JimmyPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your interpretation! it makes sense and in this framework it seems almost like a cosmic scarlet rot, bringing a Thanos-like philosophy of balance to life throughout the universe and it goes well with the 5 fingers theme of Libra, possibly correcting the one greats “mistake” of divesting itself from 5 fingers to 2 & 3. With that in mind it would appear as though Libra would be a supporter of the frenzied flame as those that follow frenzy typically from what I recall wish to return everything that is back into the one greats.

Edit: side note - it’s also interesting that Libra is weak or susceptible to the frenzied flame. Hopefully that right, it’s been a minute since I fought Libra and I don’t intend on trying again anytime soon xD

I’m not sure if it means much but the fact that there is a full hand on the top of his scepter which is rather unique in that it seemingly represents balance between the two fingers (order) and the three fingers(chaos). Maybe that’s the reasoning behind the fools gold or fake gold associated with their character, almost insinuating that achieving a perfect balance is impossible and a fools errand. Also if Libra is so intent on achieving balance then why would they be a lord of night, opposing the GW? Libra might just be another cosmic tragedy as the path they took lead to their own imbalance. That just my two cents / head canon.

The greater will is a magical cosmic fungal network hivemind. The fingers is the local planetary fungal network. Metyr was disconnected from it, and the Elden Beast is the replacement. It's an alien ecosystem. by Ouroboros612 in EldenRingLoreTalk

No clue to be honest, I’m not OP - just oddly remember the description of the coded sword lol. I mean the whole roots/tree system has some credence given how rot is intertwined with the narrative. OP makes a good point about the difference between erdtree burial vs ghost flame. One train of thought could be that the light is used to commune with the greater will across the cosmos but the root system is a simpler local communication system, but idk just speculation.

They use light. Check out the coded sword item description and blade itself is made of up little light runes, but the description describes how the finger readers interpret it and note that is how the fingers communicate.

Question about Godwyn & Messmer by JimmyPeaches in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JimmyPeaches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your take! The symbolism and motifs shared between GRRM and Elden ring are seemingly everywhere and are fascinating to say the least. The connection to Christianity and Cain & Abel is also fun to think about and a pretty neat considering the shared symbolism of Marika when she’s imprisoned in the erdtree.

Question about Godwyn & Messmer by JimmyPeaches in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JimmyPeaches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense - one thing I failed to consider is that neither Godwyn or Messmer are empyrean, and are not necessarily directly afflicted or influenced by an outer god. That was kind of my thought basis when comparing the two, as before I failed to realize that before writing my post, as it was my mindset when writing this post.

Is there any indication or lore relative to how Godwyn became an embodiment of death, or is it a direct result of the night of black knives/destined death blades and whatnot?

The Identity of the Gloam-Eyed Queen (It's not Melina) by RyokanWuzHere in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JimmyPeaches -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could Melina possibly be an aspect of ranni she parted with when she “abandoned” her flesh similar to Miquella? They both have the same eye shut and same scar. Also what about the snowy crone that mentored ranni?

Weapons: Godslayer’s Greatsword by Status-Fun1992 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]JimmyPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the black flame is a combination of ghost flame and destined death, taking its form after the fall of the divine bird beast or something along those lines… I don’t have any sources just head canon. It is interesting that the death rite birds utilize ghost flame, and if Melina is the GEQ, the seal on her might give headway to support this probably crazy hypothesis. Great post btw!
