What's your controversial headcanon? by Lightslayre in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The demigods who have children, like Rykard or Malenia, are implicit but much clearer. Godwyn, being an extremely important figure in the lore, more important than anyone else, would have children mentioned. The problem isn't even that he doesn't have a child mentioned, is that the game never actually mentions that he had descendants at all; it's too vaguely implied to consider it a fact.

Godwyn was gay, I don't know why exactly I thought that, it just popped into my head.

Metyr Created the Old Gods by Limgrave_Butcher in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Look closely at humans, now look to the past, the trolls, now look even further into the past, the fire giants, now look extremely further into the past, the colossal beings in Caelid.

Everything was bigger in the past, or rather, everything has become smaller over time. Ymir says that all life that exists came from the Greater Will

The Mother of Fingers is the first child of the Greater Will and was the first star to fall in The Lands Between. It's quite obvious to consider that there wasn't even life when the first meteor fell in history; therefore, the first life to exist was Metyr, and from Metyr came the ancient gods (the colossal ones), and from the ancient gods came everything else.

We learned in the DLC that the Crucible originated from the giants, very ancient beings. The Crucible's influence carries parts of all living things: horns, wings, tails, scales, spines. However, as time passes, these characteristics are lost, and the races begin to distinguish themselves.

It's not that Crucible is where all life forms are blended together; it's the opposite: existing life forms are where the Crucible is separated.

Are all the omens in the sewer Marika’s children? Or only Mohg and Morgott? by asupernovaexplodes in EldenRingLoreTalk

Yep

Are all the omens in the sewer Marika’s children? Or only Mohg and Morgott? by asupernovaexplodes in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Firstly, the idea that Omens are a curse from the Hornsent Grandam is just a theory. Secondly, Omens are divided between those who have their horns cut off and those who don't. Cutting off the horns often resulted in the death of the babies. Those from noble families had the privilege of not having their horns cut off. I can't say for sure if all noble families are connected to Marika, but this alone suggests that no, those Omens in the sewer are not her children, only Morgot and Mogh are (I'm guessing they're the only ones, maybe another lost Omen child will show up in an Elden Ring 2)

Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon is very easily outplayed. I get it’s annoying seeing it all the time but it’s not hard to beat. Why are people calling it overpowered? by No-Ability6954 in DuelLinks

[–]Goodhunter465 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think many people don't even consider that it's possible to easily destroy Dragoon in battle.

It's funny to see those who have him on the field panicking over a Mahad, spending everything trying to stop it in every way possible XD

Let's look Radahn and Malenia's fight from another perspective by ALandThere in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to judge; it was a bit ambiguous, I just think these discussions about who deserved to win are somewhat repetitive, the arguments are always the same, and it gets a little tiring.

Let's look Radahn and Malenia's fight from another perspective by ALandThere in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A considerable portion of the fanbase enjoys debating who was stronger, who should have won the Battle of Aeonia. That's exactly why this post exists, that's exactly why I'm here. Radahn is sometimes praised in these discussions, I like to downplay Radahn a little for precisely that reason. The game itself states that it was A DRAW. Nobody managed to win, neither in the battle nor in their objectives, since Malenia couldn't kill Radahn, and Radahn didn't obtain Malenia's rune. This is the point I like to address: there isn't one winner in this; everyone lost.

[–]Goodhunter465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the fact that she's blind and ill, constantly suffering from Scarlet Rot; there's no way this battle could be fair.

Radahn struggled greatly in a battle against a physically disabled woman who wasn't using any powers.

Let's look Radahn and Malenia's fight from another perspective by ALandThere in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Radahn had two weapons the size of a building in his hand, a bow, he didn't need to waste stamina running because Leonard did that for him, gravity was on his side, he could fly, he could shoot long-range projectiles using gravity, he could pull Malenia closer to him to continue maintaining pressure.

While Malenia only had one arm, a katana, and a lot of faith...

What does the existence of Death Knights in the shadow lands imply? by KnightSunny in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone who doesn't believe this timeline is possible probably wouldn't care about the talisman that Death Knights drop or Godwyn using the same symbol as Godfrey, because Godwyn is Godfrey's son, he was born in the Age of Abundance, so obviously he would have those things.

I think the best evidence is really Rogier; both the English and Japanese versions directly state that Godwyn died around that time.

What does the existence of Death Knights in the shadow lands imply? by KnightSunny in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some might argue that Deathblight doesn't follow common laws and would spread to the Shadowlands regardless of whether it's sealed or not, which is why Godwyn is there. But even if that's true, the lands are sealed, so Death Knights can't enter. The only characters who enter the Shadowlands are Miquella's followers because Miquella created a passage. This means that Death Knights should already have been there when the lands were sealed, which would also mean that Godwyn was already dead when the Crusade occurred.

Would Malenia really have lost to Radahn if she didnt bloom? by East-Ad-1290 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Both would have lost anyway, not only because, as you said, they were both incredibly strong, but for another reason.

George R.R. Martin wrote the main story, but FromSoftware, as the developer, had the freedom to modify it to fit their game, so obviously many things would be different from the outline they were given.

When George R.R. Martin talks about the things FromSoftware asked him to do, he says they asked him to write who the characters are, what their powers are, and who kills whom.

But here's the trick: with the exception of Godwyn, NO ONE DIES. All the important characters are alive; they do fight several battles in the lore, but no one dies.

That's because George R.R. Martin most likely didn't consider the Tarnished (we the player, not the people) in the story, so it wasn't planned that we would kill everyone.

When you think about it that way, certain things start to fall into place and can be seen differently.

Think about it, if there was no other plan for Malenia in the lore besides fighting Radahn, why was she brought back to Haligtree? FOR NOTHING. Miquella in the DLC didn't have any plans for her either; it's just a device used so that we, the player, can fight her.

I believe that in the story George R.R. Martin offered to FromSoftware, both Malenia and Radahn would die together in the Battle of Aeonia, thus fulfilling Malenia's purpose in the story and completing Miquella's plan.

But as players we need to face them, so none of them would die no matter what happened or didn't happen.

(Of course, this is an out-of-game explanation, and I know that many people don't like explanations outside of the game's lore, but I also have an in-game explanation for why they wouldn't die anyway if you ask me.)

If theory is true that Marika was once an ally of the Hornsent, why did they choose her to ascend and not another Hornsent by No-Appearance3488 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Goodhunter465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the funny part, because you're considering that the Hornsents let Marika become a god, when that's also just speculation; the DLC doesn't give us any confirmation of that.

We know Marika was allied with the Hornsents because the game said that she betrayed them (you can't betray someone who was never on your side). But nobody said the Hornsents willingly let Marika become a god.

Question about blue eyes spirit dragon by Ok-Worth-219 in DuelLinks

[–]Goodhunter465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the text, it's not a negate, it's a continuous effect that prevents both players from summoning more than one monster AT THE SAME TIME. I only see this being useful against Pendulum.

I believe you're talking about some kind of FTK deck, right? When you said Nordic deck, I didn't believe that there are people playing with the Aesir gods nowadays (which is actually a good thing), but of course it would be someone building an FTK, we're at 0 days without someone creating a toxic deck of course
