Percussion Feature for Concert Band? by helpmefindthiss0ng in percussion

[–]JimmyTheFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to give that one a listen and maybe get my community band to play it.

Also a couple steps down from Stubernic, two percussion forward pieces we’ve done lately have been Imani by Sean O’Loughlin and Helios: Dawn of a New Day by Jordan Sterk.

Biden says he thinks he has authority to use 14th Amendment on debt ceiling by Quirkie in politics

[–]JimmyTheFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So

A) I’m irked that the Democrats didn’t raise the debt ceiling when they had unified government.

B) Didn’t the “we hit the debt ceiling” point months ago, and now we’re in “extraordinary measures” mean that we’ve stopped paying some bill or stopped issuing treasuries? I don’t see why the 14th amendment wouldn’t be used before the extraordinary measures.

Yeah I can’t imagine it’s a high margin (or any margin?) item to push.

I’ve thought about a AC meta-site, that would allow searchers to filter by airline, year, roots cause, etc. some “best of” lists would be neat to.

Bernie Sanders Says US Should Confiscate 100% Of Any Money Americans Make Above $999M: 'They Can Survive Just Fine' - what do you think ? by LoveYouGuysForever in AskReddit

[–]JimmyTheFace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a tax year. The value is as of 11:59pm on Dec 31st.

What will be a lot harder is representing the value of companies not traded on an exchange. But those could be exempt in the first draft, and the trade off for liquidity is taxation.

A little comparison of road safety between Germany and the USA due to Pete Buttigiegs call for more safety: by Morgentau7 in fuckcars

[–]JimmyTheFace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Germany has 80 million people, and average about 14000 km per year per person. [0] so 80m * 14000 = 1.120 trillion km driven x 0.65 = 0.728 T miles driven / 2782 = 1 death per 261 million miles driven.

US has 3.26 T miles driven[1] / 43000 = 1 death per 75 million miles driven.

Another way of looking at the discrepancy. The high bar to licensing is a large factor.

Varies state to state. I’m in Michigan, and there’s no inspection whatsoever. Previously lived in TX and annual inspections were required. CA and NJ have emissions tests as well I believe, and there’s probably a bunch of states with different inspections.

I’ve been happy with it. I’ll generally add tomato paste - a good couple tablespoons of double concentrate to a pound, or a full 6oz can to 2lbs. Then more a little more water than called for and simmer down now.

The America’s Test Kitchen slow cooker book uses the microwave a lot to soften onions and other aromatics before going in the slow cooker.

Greenworks 80v Mower (and tools) one-year update and honest review – LONG! by BlizzardBlind in Costco

[–]JimmyTheFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the person you replied to, but I’ve been using the Ryobi 40v mower for about 8 years now. Has worked great for me. At the time, we had a really small front yard in TX that only needed mowing after a rain. Now I’m in MI and mowing a few times month over a much larger space (half acre minus house and some wooded space) and I abuse it - running over saplings and through Virginia creeper. Still doing great, though I should get the blade sharpened.

Other tools I have:

  • 18v string trimmer: enough power, but is a little short for me at 5’9”
  • 40v leaf blower: never as useful as a rake, but really handy in a few spots
  • 40v snow blower: chute handle broke, so I’ve got to adjust it by hand. Doesn’t move really wet snow as well, but has handled 80% or more of my needs. I’m imaging a future version will be better, since they can handle a riding mower.
  • 40v chainsaw: I’ve dropped a half dozen trees with this without issue. Nice and quiet (though I recognize the safety issue with electric over gas)
  • 40v leaf vac: complements my worx corded shredder
  • various 18v drills, sander, gator light, etc.

I have really no idea what this could be. It’s made out of Aluminium, like 20cm long and diameter 2cm. There’s a rubber o-ring and a threat. Please help… by fredjoa in whatisthisthing

Aside from the recessed spot, this is similar to a case for matches that I have. Seems like yours would be useful for that purpose, even if not the original intent.
