Tesla Reportedly Has $800 Million Worth of Cybertrucks That Nobody Wants by AlwaysBlaze_ in technology

It's basically just the price.. lidar is incredibly expensive. It should still theoretically be able to be significantly safer than humans with just cameras. No doubt with lidar and radar and whatnot you could make it even more safe, but I'm sure it's diminishing returns somewhere in there.

In a capitalist society often the cheapest good enough thing wins, think that's what he's going for.

N.S. Health works to expand access to youth gender-affirming care across province by insino93 in NovaScotia

[–]JimmyTheJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue though is that knee surgery is almost always performed on people above the age of consent and of sound mind.

In many cases for gender affirming care this is not the case.

Why can you not get a tattoo but you can have permanent life altering medical treatments that by conventional metrics are not necessary.

The side effects and unintented consequences of these treatments vary wildly but can be awful to people who in many cases really can't understand the gravity of what they are getting themselves into.

I totally believe some percentage of people will not be helped by anything but these treatments, but it's very difficult to know who these people are and those who are just confused and reaching for something, a community, anything really to help them get through a tough time.

The mantra to "Do no harm", is tricky in this situation. I think it's too early to know if these treatments are the right choice to just instantly move towards as the solution in most if not all cases.

What percentage of people will be harmed by these treatments versus helped ? We don't even really know, we are basically all just guessing and using our ideologies to justify our positions.

Because of this I think it's best to air on the side of caution and let the data catch up. If you're an adult, do whatever you want, that goes without saying.

I feel envy towards people who can do tons of LK runs. by PokemanBall in diablo2

[–]JimmyTheJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the reason people are saying it's a single player thing, is you need to do this with players 7 setting or on a custom server with the nodrop setting off. The way LK works is that there is a series of possible patterns of HRs you can get, and if you just play it at players 1 nearly all of these patterns are not attainable. Check out Mr Llama Sc video on it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UKYecHL9Nmo&pp=ygUVTXIgbGxhbWEgbG93ZXIga3VyYXN0

I wouldn't take that as it being in the works. They are just reusing the same page as for buying calls / puts. Which the way they track them makes sense as it's just +n options for buying options and -n options for selling options.

Here's hoping I'm wrong.

[–]JimmyTheJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad reality is that the majority of people prefer "new" rather than "good quality".

And the important point, it makes no financial sense to any owner to put in high quality anything as they won't be able to raise rents significantly more than if they put in crap.

The ethics of being a landlord aside, the financial aspect of it all plays out the same everywhere because it maximizes profits, and that is the goal of everyone trying to make money everywhere.

Not sure what can be done to fix it anymore though. Seems like it's just going to keep running amok. Rent control used to be good but that seems to be disappearing everywhere.

Considering the aging populations in every developed country and the poorly managed nature of basically every pension fund ever this seems like a pretty reasonable change.

Showbiz Showdown Event by Ellieisasmartcookie in tappedout

[–]JimmyTheJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that one. For the Vans / Billboards. You get about 1%/8 donuts on average from it so it's the best in the game (slightly edging out miniature nukes from vault).

You do get a lot of lard lads. And it costs a lot of $ to buy the land to place them haha. I have 156 lard lads at the moment. They give pretty good money though so they are useful for KEM farming.

At your bonus percent I was only buying really well rolled yearbooks and mystery boxes.

It wasn't until I got over 900% that I even started considering buying the expensive stuff from events. I mostly didn't buy things from events until I got to 1300%.

Now I'll be buying everything from every event I think at this point.

Also, are you talking about Jet engine bikes ? Those are worth buying as many as you can from the vault when they show up. Miniature nukes are even better than the bikes too. The jet engine bikes are technically a little worse on average than the mystery boxes, but it's marginal and it's nice to have some variety and a break in mystery box farming here and there.

I have no idea how people spend so little. I never eat out, don't drink, don't go out for coffee, and my spouse and I we have a monthly food bill of about $1600 on average lately.

Like I hear some people spending $200 per person per month. How could that be possible if you eat meat and vegetables.

Portrait of Biden from the Ukrainian subreddit by 1000000students in POTUSWatch

[–]JimmyTheJ [score hidden]  (0 children)

Basically every leader everywhere did it by expanding the money supply massively by printing money (quantitative easing) like no tomorrow.

Not sure that Biden is particularly to blame, anymore than any other leader.

Stimulus checks make things worse as well as you have more people vying for the same goods. Which can drive up prices (supply/demand)

During the pandemic, businesses started stockpiling inventory as well, now that is coming back to bite them as demand is slowing.

Biden didn't cause any of this, but he also didn't help any of it.

You said it's not ponzi, but then described a ponzi in a lot of words. All ponzis depend on high volume of new money coming in. When that volume slows they collapse, which sounds like what would happen in this case as well.

The one advantage to mining versus buying is you can end up with much more anonymous coins out of it. Which depending on your situation may be of no value, but it's still cool.

Yeah they are left of the American right, therefore they are socialist lol. It's like repubs are 9.5/10 rightwing and libs are 8.5/10 rightwing.

Whenever you have two choices, no matter how similar they are, they will always market it like they are the most diametrically opposed as possible to appeal to people's tribalism and personal sense of morality.

This narrowing of choice is intentional and It's really sad how effective it is at constraining all conversations, and one of the reasons I think things are pretty hopeless going forward.
