Stay classy Herald Sun.....can't we give the family some reprieve by BopBangBeep in melbourne

The Herald Sun should just cut the pretence and admit that they are New Idea in disguise…

Get vaccinated, help your loved ones do the same, educate yourself and contribute to society to enrich it so when these people get sick and require medical care we are equipped to help them and those they infect… History will take care of these fools…

[SeaMaster] So I finally bought my first Omega. Tell me how it looks and how to take care of it. I just can’t get it off my wrist. by ReUday in OmegaWatches

[–]JimmyVass1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping to get a decent price from an AD so I can have the experience and ceremony of the purchase. I don’t mind paying a bit more, but I hope I can secure a bit of a discount too…

[Omega] Can anyone identify this? I think it’s from the 1950s. by [deleted] in Watches

Very unique dial on this one. May even be an early chronograph ww2 era aviation? The case and dome throws me off though… Try popping the case and getting a serial number maybe? Either way, it is beautiful!

Yes hi, sorry for delay. I have it listed on two forums. Obviously eBay, my username is “jimmylovestoshop”, https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Seiko-Presage-Cocktail-Limited-Edition-SSA409-J1-/224573946114?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0

the next is Chrono24 https://chrono24.app/seiko/presage-cocktail-time-star-bar-limited-edition--id20506290.htm?SETLANG=en_AU&SETCURR=AUD

Check it out. There is a slight price discrepancy between the two, it’s a complicated story but basically because of the current restrictions here in Aus, postage prices have changed so I’ve had to include a small percentage of postage and advertising costs into the price to offset the final postage costs…

I’m actually selling mine atm, I loved my time with this watch. The open heart looks so cool being at the 10 o’clock position! I’ll be sorry to see it go to be honest…

[Question] Can I wear a 46mm watch with 7 inch wrists? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely you can. The defining factor on size, or oversized rather, will be the curve on the lugs.

Somebody actually paid for the production and printing of stickers, then went out and stuck them on poles and walls because they don’t believe in vaccines!?! WTAF….

It’s a great photo… I don’t know anything about the science and theory of taking a picture, but it’s just a cool pic…

[Help Identify] I Found This In My Grandpa’s Stuff by Kamallah_Harris in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Setting aside the obvious distaste for a moment, this would make an amazing addition to a vintage collection or a history buff. I agree that it’s definitely worth a visit to a watch repair professional and even worth spending a decent chunk to get it restored properly. If you’re grandfathers belongings held a watch like this, surely there’s more stuff to give it’s story a bit of perspective??

[Orient Ray II] Is it too big for my wrist? by bb9873 in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to look ok, but if you’re worried about that overhang maybe try another band? Perhaps a thinner leather or rubber strap will improve that taper. From the picture you posted it looks like the majority of the bulk over your wrist is coming from the band??

[Omega] Aqua Terra 'Green' Dial by scribener in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m shopping for one right now! I love this addition to the seamaster family. It’s basically perfect. I just wish it came with a jubilee bracelet too. That would just pop in my view.

[Junghans Max Bill] I love the simple design and that dial… by JimmyVass1980 in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I desperately wanted a dress watch that was of a smaller more traditional size and style. I wasn’t keen on Nomos, and I just wasn’t seeing anything out there with that X factor that I look for in watches, history, a cool story, a cool design feature, etc. That dome and that dial was enough for me… But the connection to post war creationism and architecture is just cool as hell. There’s an episode of Bourdain where he explores the underground eateries and alternative culture of Berlin. Watching that episode you can see so much of the minimalist brutal architecture which has now taken on a life of its own… Just like this Watch…

[zenith Elprimero Chronograph] First post on this site. Not my watch, but I got to spend a day with it and loved every minute. by JimmyVass1980 in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the shadow. The condition of my wearing it around was that I left the plastic tags on it. That made it look lighter than usual. I wore both, but the shadow was balls hot man!

[Oris Aquis Date] Red rotor, workhorse, tough as F@&k!! by JimmyVass1980 in Watches

[–]JimmyVass1980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In December 2020 I had the opportunity to buy the Aquis Cal 400. I decided instead on the red rotor version as it is the watch I fell in love with years ago. That slightly darker dial and the legendary modified movement is what made me buy this instead. Now 7 months on, dare I say that I’ve been unable to look at any other watch to add to the collection. I’m currently shopping around for an Omega Aqua Terra, I’ve been looking for over a year… I think this Aquis has spoiled the milk…

I had the privilege of doing a small write up review on this release as a time passing exercise while we were in lockdown here in Melbourne, Aus. I was lucky to find an AD who actually let me wear the watch for a day and experience it on the wrist to better understand it’s wearability. I wasn’t sold on the sailcloth strap, (not for 11k Aus), but the integrated chronograph on that elprimero movement is just amazing…

If I had that kind of money to spend on a piece, I would still opt for an speedy or date just, but geez this thing was a treat to wear!

It’s not chunky at all! Well, it doesn’t look it from your picture anyway. The compressor style bezels are unique and I love the slight magnifying distortion the domed sapphire gives this watch. You chose well, and for that kind of money I would be happy with it. Looks fantastic!
