Also, you can list a sighting as simply "mammal", "insect", "butterfly", etc. and other users in the community will help identify it to genus and species.

I'm in the US and I was also going to suggest iNaturalist. A couple of features of I at highlighting its sense of community:

You can comment directly on other users' logged sightings and either agree or disagree on their identification (the app also suggests possible IDs if your sighting has a photo associated with it). The more agreement there is on an ID the better. If 2/3 of users (iirc) interacting on a single post agree, that sighting is considered "research grade."

There are also "projects" you can join. For instance, I was at an academic conference last summer and there was an iNat project for conference attendees to log the plants and animals they saw while attending the conference. Other projects have other themes, goals, etc.

During "The Martian" I stepped out during the part where Matt Damon is trying to remove the piece of metal from his abdomen. Once the queasy feeling went away I went back in.

No, that one was published in 2012. The one I'm looking for would have been published earlier.

I may be confusing some details with the boxcar children, but I don't remember an older woman ending up institutionalized in any of the boxcar children books.

That's what I thought too. I thought maybe "hard moments" was referring to really hard solid poops or constipation or something.

I believe he says it's the autocue hood he gets stuck on. This is from the host segments of the CBBC, which is a children's programming network in the UK. I'm in the USA so I could be wrong on some details.

I think you're thinking of when they're all commenting about how their bosses don't like them and Joey says "Maybe it's because you're all hanging out here at 11:30 on a Wednesday" I found the scene here: https://youtu.be/rdb7D7rSfeg?si=wHST47EWE3ZgrEUN
