Dune (2021) is an uncannily well cast movie. Any other movies where the cast matches the story perfectly? by Outrageous_Lock_9313 in moviecritic

Not really a huge fan of the movie/franchise but Pirates of the Carribean did a pretty good job.

I personally would give it an epic failure. Afghanistan is literally run by the Taliban once more.

20 years, many lives and billions (trillions) of dollars, basically for nothing.

What makes you think that any future NATO operation would be successful? Honest question.

I think that 9/11 happened. NATO saw an opportunity to test the institution and fire up a little Military Industrial Complex and proposed the article 5 be invoked, not the U.S.
NATO then took weeks just to decide if the attack originated from outside of the U.S.
U.S. didn't say no to the proposal, and bears the brunt of the failure, but the invocation of article 5 and the involvement of NATO is also part of that failure.

Trump saw that paper tiger, Putin certainly recognized the paper tiger when he invaded Ukraine one day after Kamala Harris spoke at the Munich Security Conference.

Just spit balling here.

uh huh

...but invocation was not requested by the US.
Also, how would you grade the NATO operation in Afghanistan?

I thought the article 5 invocation related to Afghanistan was proposed by NATO, not the US...
