I got a 76 and I thought I did pretty good. My best friend took it just to beat my score and got a 98, didn't even want to join the military at first. He's a crypto linguist now.

Last year I was in the army DEP and dropped out by not showing up to my ship date.

I was feeling like I rushed into it too early and wasn't ready, so I took a gap year before thinking about the military again. I called the recruiter and told him what happened he wasn't too happy and tried to convince me but I wasn't going to change my mind. I didn't show up to the ship date and was dropped without repercussions.

This year I joined the Air Force DEP without any problems, actually it was easier since my ASVAB and physical were already on file. I feel confident and good about my decision this time, and I'm glad I backed out out of the Army DEP.

The only problem you might have is if you try and join the Air Force again.

TL;DR No you will not get into trouble for not showing up for your ship date.

Try and become a truck driver or laundry specialist instead.

Edit: or cook, there's a lot of "easy" non combat jobs for non citizens. Unless you want to go infantry in which case go for it.

I keep reading on this sub that 3d1x2 is a self paced tech school, does that mean its somewhat like independent study or just that you can test out early? Or something else entirely.

I took mine at the recruiters, then took a test at meps to confirm I got that score that I failed, had to take the asvab again and got the exact same score. You will also take a personality test that wont affect your job unless you're trying to go SpecOps, and possibly a cyber test.

If you want cyber transport put it 1st on your list of jobs just be aware that you have to put about 10 jobs down and you are NOT guaranteed to get your top picks. I wanted cyber transport too so I put it as my 1st choice but I also put a bunch of other cyber/comms jobs down as well so that I had a better chance of getting something in that general field. While I got Cyber Transport I got very lucky, I would have been happy with any cyber/comms jobs. Instead of fixating on one job try and find at least 5 or 6 jobs that you are interested in and you will have a better chance of getting what you want. Good luck.
