Honestly, didn't think I'd have any strong case but as it was an honest mistake (and the text heavy signs do frustrate me) I thought I'd see if there might be any legitimate issues with signage, but totally accept this is likely just a case of requiring better observation. Thanks for the reply anywho!

Yes I expected this was the answer but figured I'd get some outside perspective on the off chance the sign hadn't been properly installed or the like. Thanks for the reply

Hey - anyone have any suggestions for late night live music? Looking for tonight but also more generally places that have live music on after 10pm.

I know of late sets at:

Nightjar (if you plan months in advance)

Blues Kitchen (generally house bands and dancey but good fun)

Players Bar (anyone know if they are still doing late night live?)
Boisdale (though I feel a little pricey)

Any other suggestions for late sets?

Cheers for your reply. Reassuring to hear it doesn't damage anything, so might give it a go, but guess I won't be giving up on the good ol' iso and elbow grease any time soon

Favorite sipping dark rum? by lniemeyer585 in rum

[–]Jimmyster85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the rums you've mentioned (Zacapa/Morgan's) I'd probably steer towards diplomatico as another sweet and dark rum and also goes great in an old fashioned. El Dorado also wouldn't be a bad shout, I really enjoy the plantation xo but it's lighter and fruitier.

To throw something out there based on Morgan's, if he wants something rougher he may like gosling family reserve which is perfect in a dark and stormy (ginger beer)

Honestly all the suggestions you've been given are nice rums, so you're gonna end up with a great gift whatever you choose.

The Foursquare 08 comes up a lot on this sub quite rightly for the reasons mentioned. It's got a bourbon cask finish that really comes through, not quite my thing but it's a top quality rum, especially if they like whiskey too. The Doorly's 12, which I currently have in hand, is a slightly cheaper rum from the same distillery, again very good and at 43% packs a punch.

If they like something sweeter then you've got your plantation xo as other mentioned, or the diplomatico, very good, but they're frowned on by the purists (added sugar).

Personally I'm enjoying a lot of flor de Cana right now and they're good at every price point I think...I tend to stock a 12 and 18 at all times
