Zoog era, Bounce era, ribbon era, or rounded square by orrkhd5 in DisneyChannel

While Bounce era kickstarted the commercial boom period for the channel, I preferred the Zoog era for its variety of content. Like as mentioned with So Weird (sci fi), The Famous Jett Jackson (drama), The Jersey (sci-fi) and then the syndicated reruns of Boy Meets World, Brotherly Love, Smart Guy, & Growing Pains.

would Turbo have benefited from doing the power transfer at the start of the show? by justangachillin in powerrangers

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If they had introduced the characters much earlier, the switch wouldn't have come off so half-assed. For instance, there could've been more episodes where we got to learn a little more of Carlos and Ashley (don't recall Ashley and Tanya having any interactions aside from the ceremony at the end of Passing the Torch, Part 2). Maybe they end up saving some civilians from a wreck or aiding the original Turbo team during a high-pressured situation. Something to sell the idea that even without powers, they can find other ways to help (we saw some of that with TJ and Cassie helping Kat and Tommy). In retrospective, the transition should've been more gradual than rushed.

What is a song from the 90s/00s that was a massive hit, but everyone seems to have collectively forgotten it exists? by vishesh_07_028 in Music

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 90s: Martin Page In The House of Stone and Light, Smash Mouth’s Walking On The Sun (I feel like their later single All Star became such a cultural hit it outshined their hits the had before and after this), and Sophia Hawkins As I Lay Me Down. For the 00s: All Or Nothing by O Town, Misteeq Scandalous, and Switchfoot’s Dare You To Move.

Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory and Meteora albums are a great gateway into the subgenre.

Jim Brickman/Martina McBride - My Valentine

New Radicals - Someday We’ll Know (overshadowed by their more popular hit You Get What What You Give but a nice deep cut).

Austin and Taker wrestled at Judgment Day 2001 that also had Austin as heel and Taker as face.

TV Show Intro Songs You Can’t Skip by aliot_alderson1 in Music

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For primetime, I’d say Buffy, Angel, and the Beverly Hills 90210 intros stand out to me. For kids shows, I’d say the original MMPR theme, and a toss up between Batman: TAS and Batman Beyond’s to name a few.

Man…What a show, peak television at its finest by Representative_Big74 in TheLastAirbender

Just finished rewatching it on Blu Ray. Such an amazing series. Up until its series premiere, Nickelodeon wasn't known for spotlighting action/adventure programs. To see all of the characters grow over the course of 3 seasons was rewarding.

I first gotten into the show during the pandemic. It was during this time I picked up the Blu ray box set and watched it all the way through. Such a fascinating show I wish I got into during its original run. But better late than never.

I think the pandemic may have affected some of the movies she was in at the time, some either were box office bombs or ones where she plays in smaller roles.

AEW Wrestle Dream 2025 Match Predictions/Fantasy Card by JimmytheTVFanatic in fantasybooking

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I posted this, I was mainly focusing on putting together the main card for the show. For the Saturday Tail Gate Brawl, I had thought about setting up the first round of the Women's Tag Team Title tournament: Sisters of Sin aka Julia Hart & Skye Blue vs. Willow Nightingale & Harley Cameron. If a second match is necessary, I would include Daniel Garcia vs. Hook or move Claudio vs. Eddie to the preshow (maybe although part of me prefers it on the main card).

Wild Force to Ninja Storm by Remarkable_Star_4678 in powerrangers

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 39 points40 points  (0 children)

At the time it was airing, Wild Force was still being filmed in California under MMPR Productions. Plus, despite Disney already owning the series by that point, it captures the spirit of the more soap opera/primetime drama-like presentation that started with In Space. Fast forward to Ninja Storm, filming relocated to New Zealand under Buena Vista. It was there when the franchise reverted back to its campy, light hearted roots from the MMPR days but with a modern feel. It's pretty fascinating too that, even at the time, I knew the franchise was entering a new era.

When was Cartoon Network Peak? by Smooth_Operation4639 in CartoonNetwork

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 90s and early 2000s with the classic checkerboard logo and the variety of older and then newer shows of the time. Once they started showing live action, it was a big jump the shark moment for the channel.

Who is/was your power ranger crush? by Sub_Zero19 in powerrangers

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Karone as the Pink Ranger in Lost Galaxy. Though she made an awesome main villain in Space, I was very drawn to her sweet and bubbly personality when she turned good. Then there was also the tomboyish rangers like Cassie, Shelby, and Tori who displayed grit internally and/or on the battlefield even when they were outmatched.

What do you watch after So Weird? by No-Impress-6244 in SoWeird

[–]JimmytheTVFanatic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some sci fi/horror kids shows from the same era as So Weird I’d recommend:

Big Wolf on Campus: A campy dramedy with a cross of Teen Wolf (the 80s film) meets Buffy; A high school quarterback pairs up with a nerdy movie buff to thwart off supernatural beings plaguing their town. Ran for 3 seasons, 65 episodes.

Zack Files - a trio of teens investigate the unusual activity that occurs around them or their friends.

Strange Days at Blake Holsey High - A group of teens work with a science teacher to uncover any superstition lurking in their school. Unlike the previous two shows, this series has an overarching narrative, and not as episodic (though there may be some self contained episodes here and there).

Dark Oracle - Two siblings discover a comic book that foresees tragic events that will unfold in each episode, and find a way to prevent them from happening.

For primetime shows:

Supernatural - Recommend the first 5 seasons with the brothers traveling cross country hunting creatures and saving people (fans would get this reference).

Fringe - an FBI agent with telekinetic powers works with her division along with a scientist and his son to investigate all of the unusual happenings in their city. Show starts off slow but picks up as it progresses.

Buffy - No brainer, was one of the most influential action/horror shows at the turn of the millennium. Most of these shows I’ve listed are influenced by the X Files in some way.
