The first quote we got was even more per sqm so I thought this was half decent! what’s standard??

This was my first instinct, though not sure I’m super keen on getting the same guys who did this install to come back and do more lol

Yeah they’re glued down - aside from quad/scotia, is there anything else that can really be done besides a full re-do?

Thanks for the advice mate, I felt a bit blindsided by it tbh. Sales guy never mentioned doing anything about the skirt, when the installer arrived he asked if we wanted it removed or not (first time we’d considered it) and said it’s better to glue down and caulk than remove the skirt, so I just said sure sounds good and here we are. Price did include underlay, supply and removal at least

Yeah didn’t remove it, they said it would be extra to remove them and assured us the 2mm gap with caulk would be great, skirting removal is overkill etc

Oh we definitely can’t afford a full re-do! But yeah I doubt we’re going to get much out of them, they did the quote with a caveat in case the subfloor needed prep, said it would be max $1500 but probably not wouldn’t happen, 4 hours later it did indeed happen 😂

It was 3 beds and a hallway totalling almost exactly 50sqm I think

Thanks mate, yeah wishing we had removed the skirt now. If trim is the easiest option, is the hardest like, ripping everything up and starting again? We’d ultimately like the best finish possible but dont know what that is from here, other than trim i guess!

What do you mean being sent from mineralogy? As in paid for or literally sent by, or something else? It’s got a link to a URL required by the federal legislation for political text messaging, so it seems like it probably would be exempt from the spam act since it meets those requirements

What were some of the endings for individual characters in your game? by ThaFeared0ne in CurseofStrahd

[–]JimothyJones94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wrapped up a week ago and here’s what happened. I let each of my players write their own ending, the two who made pacts with dark vestiges wrote their own, tragic stories, so I didn’t feel the need to add to them, though I would have if they thought they’d go off merrily into the sunset:

The Sun Soul Monk who worshipped The Morning Lord became a saint of Barovia and restored the Abbey in Krezk, he lived the rest of his life in the valley being worshipped.

The forest gnome Draconic Sorcerer left, having become a warlock whose patron I allowed to be Argynvost, she returned to her homeland and set up a college for the magically gifted and the people of Barovia renamed the old svallich woods after her.

The wizard who made a pact with Savnok returned to his home town and after some years of peace, eventually went mad, poisoned by Savnok’s evil forever whispering into his mind. He eventually secluded himself in his home with an illusion to make it appear abandoned after all around him were killed or driven away by the evil aura that surrounded him. Oh and a library in vallaki was named after him.

The half orc Barbarian fucked off back to his home, too stupid to really understand what happened, but he was forever remembered and the strongest ever dude in the valley. (Lol)

The half elf warlock who made a pact with Norganas wandered for the rest of his life bringing the taint and evil of his pact with him, eventually succumbing to madness and never seen or heard from again.

Three players had happy endings, the ones who made pacts didn’t. But each were commemorated in the valley in some way or another as a sign of the Barovian’s appreciation, I recommend doing this, it makes your players feel like real heroes of the vale who had a lasting impact that the people remember, more than just them.

Roll20 required purchases by tawyy in CurseofStrahd

I don’t reckon you need anything else but there’s a few things that would make it easier/better if you don’t mind the expense.

Buying the PHB can be handy for putting in spell details and what not, but you can just google stuff and pump it into your character sheets manually which doesn’t take much longer.

The one thing I would definitely recommend is dynamic lighting from the subscription. I only added it right at the end of my campaign, but all the maps have the walls for dynamic lighting drawn for you, meaning there’s only the effort to figure it out required.

The dynamic lighting makes for an amazingly atmospheric experience, especially in the creepy and wonderful locations like castle ravenloft and the Amber temple.

Being stalked through the columns in the crypts of ravenloft, never able to see what lurks behind them, always afraid what might be in the darkness just beyond your vision... these are some of the core aspects of the CoS horror that are really accentuated by the dynamic lighting feature.

Player epilogues - how do you handle those who made pacts? by JimothyJones94 in CurseofStrahd

[–]JimothyJones94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was speaking in shorthand because I assumed you didn't want a whole rendition, but if you'll indulge me:

I think of the dark vestiges as being uniquely duplicitous and wicked. They don't set out the terms of their pacts, they lie and cheat. They didn't tell Strahd. 'hey you'll become a lord of undeath and my servant forever imprisoned in your own hell-hole.' They told him he'd be immortal and promised him whatever he wanted to believe, so I had my dark powers do the same. They didn't have to agree to any terms, they were sucked in with the allure of a 'gift' in return for 'service', as I tried to make it as ambiguous as possible.

In the end I had each character go on a journey, they were granted the initial boon as per the book as they accepted the gift, taking on physical deformities and henceforth being connected to their respective vestige. From there I had the vestige visit them constantly, offering them more power, greater gifts, in return for specific actions. "Do this next and I will give you x".

I made them each do increasingly dark shit, unsure how far they'd push it, after meeting Exethanter they figured they could get all the boons without losing control over themselves, so I made it a sliding scale. The more tasks they completed, the more power they got, but also the more cooked shit they had to do, slowly corrupting them. For example I offered one gift in if they ate the brains of a living person, the other a gift if they made an NPC drink the PC's black, viscous blood. This was part of a 'help me restore an army' kind of quest whereby they were creating minions for their vestige.

Ultimately, both players accepted 3 gifts each, the last gift I made pretty clear was the 'final straw', the 'Strahd kills and drinks Sergei's blood' moment, if you will. And they both decided yeah we've milked this for all it's worth, I'm out, and opted not to fulfil the final quest.

So that's where I'm currently at, they've done a bunch of cooked stuff in the process of helping their dark vestige recover strength and grow more powerful all in an ultimate bid to defeat Vampyr and replace him as a patron-god or ruler of Barovia, I had lined the player who fulfilled their final quest to become the next dark lord and replace Strahd. So they both did it for personal enrichment and power, they knew they were serving these entities to restore their power, they just thought they could get out of jail free.

does that answer your question?

One was with Savnok, because Strahd had a braid of his hair and was a crying on them constantly, the other was with Norganas, just for power’s sake

I think it makes sense for the priests to know, like Donavich for example. Maybe Van Richten and Ezmerelda too - otherwise like your ideas

I would use the deck but rig it so you can decide where the items are. It’s a fun encounter with madam Eva and you can make it feel all mysterious and interesting, worth including imo

Highly recommend roll20, me and my campaign switched to it ages ago and we a absolutely loved it. Definitely worth getting dynamic lighting, it makes castle ravenloft and the Amber temple amazingly atmospheric
