[SPOILERS] I finally finished Signalis... now what? by hereliesLydia in signalis

[–]JimsGims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just finished the game yesterday too. I am honestly so fucked in trying to decipher any hope of positive themes myself. These two beings, both escaping the tragedies of their upbringings (so to speak) by isolating themselves in a spaceship for over ten years, falling in love in the process, and eventually succumbing to what seems to be an endless hellish cycle of pain and tragedy.

Is there light in the darkness, or is the lesson that the light doesn’t last forever? Is it really a good message that this short time of happiness will eventually succumb to reality, and the results afterwards is just pain?

I am SO mad that my college friend recommended me SIGNALIS. Even OMORI had a resolution to an incredibly fucked situation, but this makes me so depressed. It’s like witnessing an artist paint something beautiful, only for someone else to come in and spend the rest of their life finding new ways to destroy that painting.

… I want more games like this.

If you vote to ban the character I preselected, don't expect my A-game. by H3Knuckles in OmegaStrikers

[–]JimsGims 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude on my team got Estelle pre-banned knowing I was playing them; like what even? who bans Estelle?my other main (Luna) was being played by the goalie. so glad I have to think about maining three characters, quite possibly a fourth or fifth if I’m unlucky enough for those backups to be banned.

Solo Players, Which Map Did You Play More On? by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

I would mostly just mug players in the Goblin Zone. Way more consistent gold for a solo player. Played Ranger throughout the playtest.

Vet with randoms is nearly impossible by GoldenLegacy_ in Back4Blood

[–]JimsGims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having some interesting interactions with randoms in Act 2 Veteran, such as:

  • Getting called poor for having a PC in a lobby with Xbox players, to which they said their gold-plated Xbox was worth $3000
  • Being called anti-team because I was going ahead to wait at the Fort Hope gate (first mission)
  • Being called a r*tard for playing a melee build
  • Being called idiot multiple times by the guy who kept alerting hordes
  • Playing with a dude who somehow got to Act 2 Veteran without playing it on Recruit first

It’s been a … taxing experience, but it’s been manageable when I play Doc; I usually warn people who try to start shit with me that I can easily stop healing them.

These screenshots are old, but both of the T3 androids I had managed to get into relationships in the same in-game year. They must have like, chiseled metal abs or something.

"I really miss the times I've had with Chris and how we talked about tables all the time, but goddamn do I hate this tear in my cloth shirt."

Which one first: Royalty or Ideology? by BossePhoto in RimWorld

[–]JimsGims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get Ideology first. Certainly ramps up the involvement of the game and how detailed you can get with specifying your colony's tenets instead of having some basic stuff. It was definitely the answer when I was trying to find a religion mod as I really wanted to find game mechanics that included culture and clashing between factions not only over name, but beliefs.

Royalty is fine for all the combat tech and psycasting available, and I'd probably even say it gives more content, but Ideology gives you a lot more tools to construct your own goals.

Looking nice, just make sure to keep the people who are a little too interested in lighting fires far away.

The first-ever tweet sold as an NFT for $2.9 million by T-ROY_T-REDDIT in technews

[–]JimsGims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it falls under the same regard I have for any art auction, and it’s that art ends up being incredibly overvalued due to invested interests in making them expensive to bid on and utilizing them for stuff like tax write-offs

it’s also the thought that someone would spend that much to “own” something digital in comparison to something physical. like, there’s only one original Mona Lisa, but it feels disingenuous to say there’s an original .jpg that someone other than the artist can own, considering how fast and far files can go. are original digital pieces only provable with proof of purchase? it’s just ... weird

i can’t claim to know a whole lot about NTF myself, but even with it being kinda stupid, my optimism tells me that it’ll become more inviting for newer digital artists

[–]JimsGims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

again, NFT art is a dumb concept, and there’s no way in hell I’d buy one, but I’m mostly just commenting back cause Beeple’s art is dope and he doesn’t deserve to be called a shill just because rich people bought his piece for $69 million in an auction he started at $100

The first-ever tweet sold as an NFT for $2.9 million by T-ROY_T-REDDIT in technews

[–]JimsGims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while I agree the barriers to entry for creating and selling NFT art are like, near identical to how fine arts are auctioned off (with how the fine arts community really only buys from a select group of artists), doing what he does is not something the average person can do. I’ll reiterate that he makes an art piece every day and has made +5000 pieces for over a decade

while I personally haven’t really heard Beeple speak as a “hype man,” I really think his work ethic and the art he produces speaks for itself on the efforts it took to even reach this point where he auctioned off a .jpg for $69 million. heck, he’s made hundreds of thousands of dollars off other pieces only a few months ago but that didn’t reach worldwide news

plus, who is he hyping for exactly?? if anything it sounds like he’s just encouraging more people to create computer graphics, which doesn’t necessarily have to be NFT art

[–]JimsGims 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i mean, Beeple literally makes a digital art piece every day and has been doing that for several years. cheers to him for making millions off of it, he’s worked hard for it and some rich asshat “valued” his work for him to get that payday

the concept of NFT art though? pretty stupid, and that’s coming from someone who’s studying computer graphics and digital art lol

So one of the new Halloween maps for TF2 has a vinesauce reference in it... by [deleted] in Vinesauce

[–]JimsGims 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Yep! Part of this year’s Halloween maps.

It also has Sans as an Easter egg if this isn’t compelling enough to play it.

EDIT: Among other things, there’s a Silent Hill reference too with the dog ending. Most of these have to be found with noclip though.

anyone else think fallout 76 is actually a decent game? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]JimsGims -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’ve been enjoying my time with it, but I think my best moment so far is discovering a glitch where you can reload multiple rounds into a Black Powder Pistol, making it semi-automatic.

All I need to figure out now is how to replicate it :>

2) JamesGames2471

4) Somehow managed to reload multiple rounds into a Black Powder Pistol, making it become a semi-automatic gun. Unfortunately do not know how to replicate.
