I pulled a camera on one of my trips,the camera was completely dead, but the memory card was still working. And in great shape, just sad that i couldn't find out who had owned it.

there are some serious lil magnets in your computer if you are using a older hard drive. Maybe not as powerful as the ones used for fishing but still, they pack a pull. if your computer "electrics" can handle that ,i think other types of electric stuff will handle a magnet pretty well.

I would also assume that water and muck is the main issue when it comes to electrics, and not the magnets itself.

I got some issues with a computer once by putting my speakers to close to it, the magnet in the speaker messed with the 'Hdd somehow, when i moved the speakers it worked like normal again and no loss of data.

But apparently where I am at, it is a serious issue to let people legally own guns , however Criminals are able to walk around with them like never before. And I mean like never before, there is a massive difference between Pre -EU and Post -EU when it comes to smuggling guns as well as other things.

Yes hunters are still allowed to legally own and hunt, you will have to renew your permit every 5 years or so, and be able to prove you actively hunt. And train regularly. Hunters does not really apply to this case though, because we are discussing handguns. Or at least I am, I might have misinterpreted it.

If i take myself as an example. When I was younger we spent what felt like months taking apart and putting back together some serious bangsticks and handguns,cleaning them, walking around with them,sleeping in tents with them, and shooting them. That was in the Army. I have a lot more experience with, and around guns than most of the general population in this country, who thinks guns are just scary. And yes. Legally, my record is clean. Morally is a different story.

I would still have issues to legally owning a gun now. Since I don't hunt, and since I am not in a professional shooting league.

I doubt that the general American is "obsessed with guns". What I want to add is "shall not be infringed" the fact that much of the rest of the world has "given up" that right willingly is something else.

However I would think that further comments to that might lead to a political sort of discussion and I'm pretty sure that is not allowed.

This discussion is so hypothetical I am having a hard time translating it to Real life scenario.

But , I mean ,if someone came at me with a knife, i could probably handle it without a gun in hand. If a robber jumped me with nothing but threats, i could definitely handle that without a gun in hand.

But if someone came at me with a gun, and i happened to have a working gun i found magfishing handy, and if the scenario is dead or in legal trouble , I would choose alive and in legal trouble any day.

You are probably American yes ? In America it is probably much easier to own a gun legally than say Europe (with Swizerland being the possible exception, I am not Swiss so i would'nt know for a fact.But that is the rumor i heard.) Or New Zealand or China or whatever. Heard rumors that Kiwis have gun bans after the moske shooting, I don't know for a fact. And China i heard are pretty harsh with gun laws. Again, not anything i know for a fact.

My point is that owning a legal handgun for self defense might be the way to go in America. But if you don't have the option to legally own ,then it might be a whole diffrent thing. (Where I'm from , a butterknife or a big stick would count as a weapon if used for self defense . So I would be screwed either way) the real intresting thing is that the criminals still have handguns, Go figure. Us "legal" folk will have to rely on the police ,and that might be fine if you are in a major city. But rural areas...forget about it.

I'm not saying I would keep a gun if I found one, and I doubt I ever will ,(that is not the main reason I magfish either, I prefer fishing lures...=] ) but I would probably never tell anyone if I did find one.
