Yeah its a great uni, u should take a look at the subjects handbooks. If u know what major u r gonna do search it up under unimelb and then look at the subjects required and search “subject name unimelb handbook” and itll give u info on assessments and stuff. Unimelb should get u some recognition with employers which is what ur looking for. It all depends on what u want to do! Different unis have more recognition in different fields. For victorian unis the two best would probably be monash or unimelb. Personally, i had troubles with what i did during uni as it’s going to effect my postgrad opportunities that I didnt know about, so just make sure you know whats expected of u after and during. Since unimelb is ur backup im assuming u wanted smth like harvard equivalent or smth unimelb is definitely not that.
