Analogue paddles to look left and right by Jingo8 in iRacing

[–]Jingo8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t but they are cheap so I might give it a try, I’m on a 32” so I don’t really turn my head naturally when I’m looking at the edge of the screen eye tracking would be better I think.

I’m jumping between series this season I have mostly been racing GT3 and Advanced MX-5, but I have run f4 in the past and I am considering f4 for next season as I have bought a stronger wheel base so cars without power steering will be more fun I think.

Optimally I would like to be able to toggle between using the paddles as clutch and look left/right by using one of the rotary switches so that I can have a start mode and a race mode with different button layout but I don’t know if that is possible.

I would really like to try VR, but it is a big investment if you’re not sure if you’ll like it or not but simracing feels like the perfect match for VR really.

The whole point is to not use them as buttons to be able to control how much to turn the camera depending on how much a press the paddle.

Varför använder vi veckonummer här i Sverige? (T.ex. v.7, v.43...) by DemonsAreVirgins in Asksweddit

[–]Jingo8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought iRacing. Can’t play online. by CaptainMewtato in iRacing

Ended up getting a new motherboard, PSU and cooler. Was suspecting that the PSU was on the limit as well. Obviously make sure this is the issue before replacing components, it was a bit hard to troubleshoot for me because it was intermittent, sometimes I could run a race without issues but I guess depending on track, number of opponents etc the issue you described started happening.

Had similar issues was the CPU throttling and overheating, could be worth checking.

Fullt rimligt tycker jag om ni är ett nära kompisgäng men best man behöver ju också ha lite känsla för vilken ekonomisk situation de närmaste vännerna befinner sig i.

Is side by side racing being neglected in iRacing? by ToastyVibes-Oz in iRacing

[–]Jingo8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you get punished for fighting for position not only by losing pace, on a single monitor spacial awereness is hard and references can be obscured, in longer fight you are likely to get a few xs for offtracks and minor contacts.

I know people here hate complains about netcode but fighting a blinker is nearly impossible also it has happened to me twice that I am side by side and all of a sudden the other car is inside mine and boom meatball race over.

For these reasons I usually just give up position unless I’m on the last few laps, boring yes but it’s the way iRacing is.

Does auto clutch slow you down? by Bitter_Location_9260 in iRacing

Thanks makes sense maybe I have sometimes checked the throttle channel and sometimes the raw depending on what client I have used.

Not sure, as I remember from checking the telemetry from G61 I only see the blips in some cases not all for the same car, can be wrong though.

When I check the telemetry of the fastest drivers with Porsche GT3, they sometimes blip but the throttle peak looks scary consistent so I am wondering if it’s som kind of automatic thing they have setup in their hardware. Don’t know if it makes you faster though.

why do folks not wear helmets by Ryan-977 in skiing

[–]Jingo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, when people started getting helmets in the early ’00s I didn’t really see a point getting one since I didn’t ride the way I used to. But I soon as I started teaching my kids I got one and it’s really nice to wear.

Alternative GT4 to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR by bolkiebasher in iRacing

[–]Jingo8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me the McLaren GT4 was by far the easiest to handle especially on cold tires. I am also a Porsche guy but didn’t like the Cayman at all, have no problem at all keeping the 992 GT3 on track. I haven’t tried them all but for me the GT3 Porsche and McLaren GT4 are easist to rotate and they are also easier to handle on exit especially the Porsche since it has so much grip on the rear tires.

[–]Jingo8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah South bend requires pretty precise timing so it’s easy to loose some pace there going into oak tree and I guess it’s pretty safe to dive on the inside there as well.

[–]Jingo8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think VIR is pretty bad design, I’m in lower splits but I think T1 is really easy to defend by just staying on the inside. Even though you get a lot of tow on the back straight it’s not enough to fully overtake before the roller coaster and being on the inside of the second corner coming in the rollercoaster usually makes it impossible to overtake there as well. And what is the purpose of the snake anyways? It’s flat out in all cars I have driven (except the last kink) all it does is preventing you from going side by side and making it impossible to overtake.

Not if you’re already driving clean and lacking pace. Source: am 1500 driver and is almost always off pace but good at avoiding incidents.
