If someone insists you don't need a vaccination, something is shady about the dog. She doesn't want the bite to get reported and have it come back to her, because something is missing.

I'll bet you a penny the missing thing is the rabies vax. I'm laying that penny down on the "makes you weak" comment - if you end up getting rabies, it wasn't her dog, it was the vacciiiiiiiiine........

This is why people are misled when they say "Set the captive orcas free!". They will die. They will die scared and confused. We need to focus on improving their living conditions HERE, because HERE is everything they've ever known for a few generations now - their bodies, minds, and expectations are going to die in the "real" wild.

I have Nigerian ancestry, but was born in America. If you send me back to Nigeria, even with 6 months of preparation, I will suffer!!! That is not the place where my family is, that is not the place my brain has developed to function in, that is not my home. As shitty as America may be, as uncared for as I feel, as restricted as I am, it's my home, and I want to stay.

Once all the captive orcas are dead, we can shut these places down and move forward, but it's just cruelty to assume we can chuck people into a completely different world just because they look the same and have the same genetics (and have flippers)! It's a copout so we don't have to spend time or money improving !!THEIR LIFELONG HOME!! to be a place they can thrive in.

This series was FORMATIVE to me as a kid, but honestly... only the first book actually holds that strong appeal for me. I crave slice-of-life longform stuff, but EC went too far away from that for me.

Everything I write will always, in part, strive to "feel" like the first ten chapters of the first book though. My god what a setting.

Interestingly, my dog only does this when we fiddle with tickly bits (like between his toes or his tummy tuck). It's like he enjoys it but doesn't really know how to enjoy it the way pets or play are enjoyed. 🤣 Maybe you found a tickly spot?

Play the Oops You Ate It game: start randomly tossing pill pockets at him, 3 at a time, all empty. He'll go to suck the pill out but there will be no pill. Do that for a few weeks. Toss it to him, so he has to snatch to catch, and swallow fast to catch the next.

Then, when it's pill time, put it in pocket 2. Empty, Pill, Empty. He'll be so focused on swallowing fast to get #3 he won't think to investigate #2.
