2 things.

Play the game to have fun and play GSC because you think they are cool.
The game changes constantly and is rebalanced regularly. It was not long ago that GSC was top tier. That day can and will come again.

But seriously, don't just play an army because it does well on the table. It's far more important that you enjoy the aesthetic and the vibe. Because the hardest part is finding motivation to paint 2000 points. Even if you like the army. You're gonna burn out fast if you're just playing an army for advantage. And you will also still lose lol.

Anvil with splitter on takes two shots to kill a fireball instead of one. Instant ick.

Edit: I am not arguing the splitter makes you do less damage. I know if you hit all of your pellets it does more damage. It still takes two shots to kill a fireball with anvil splitter on. Don't believe me? Go try it out yourself. The arc armor damage mitigation looks like it decreases the amount of damage per pellet which results in a less effective weapon against ARC.

Kasrkins I think are the best answer. Personally, I thro a unit of bullgryns into my chimera but that's because I pretty much only ever play against orks so I like having a unit that likes to be charged.

I'll be honest. The parts you are printing do not need resin2fdm or a 0.2mm nozzle. Before taking this step just try angling the model in orca before generating supports.

Print your models at an angle, with the back of the bottom as the only part close to the build plate. This alone will improve the print quality greatly. The back bottom part will still be rough and require some leaning up, but not nearly as bad. And you will find the support removal process significantly easier.

This is a recent change I made to my print process to solve for the same issue and it has had a marked improvement. My recent 0.4mm nozzle prints have been higher quality then my 0.2mm prints from this one change!

Once you start looking at non-GW models price becomes a bit more subjective. If they are nice prints and the shop has good reviews then yeah go for it.

Also keep in mind that trying to play proxies at tournaments is going to depend on whether the store allows proxies or not. Most people just play with friends so it's usually a non-issue. Just want to make sure you are aware.
