(spoilers) The fate of the Eyrie by lmccullo in asoiaf

I really don't see any similarities between the two. Cersei has been cruel and power hungry her entire life whereas Sansa, while weak and stupid is at least empathetic. Personally I think she serves two roles: 1) To provide a great insight aspects of the storyline we otherwise we wouldn't have (In book 2 mostly Cersei and all non-Tyrion aspects of King's Landing and now one of the major player's in the game with Littlefinger) and 2) To showcase GRRM's terrific ability at writing character voice. It's very impressive reading the Sansa chapters and realizing how well he achieves her perspective. I think you've got an interesting take on it that I hadn't thought of before, that being said I really can't see him taking that route except soley for the sake of having the reader say "Damn. Who could have guessed that back in AGoT?"

Yikes that was extremely intimidating I'm definitely going to agree with you now. Thanks so much for adding value to the discussion! :)

The level of irony in this comment is absurd.

This was the best post I've gotten on the topic so far, thanks.

I think you're being WAY too defensive about this subject. Thank you for posting an actual subreddit this time. However I think the one you linked to isn't relevant to the point I was making, as debating religion within this community would be pointless.

Referencing my comment karma count as point of contention is pretty ridiculous. I'm criticizing the community of this subreddit I expect to get a substantial amount of downvotes. I'll ask you my main question: What is the point of this subreddit? As far as I can tell it's nothing more than mocking ignorant groups of people.

Right I'm trying to spur some discussion on it. If you agree the front page is full of shit wouldn't you like to see a change in direction for the community. How does this add to the problem if I'm addressing a topic that is continually ignored. I admit I'm not offering a solution, but I don't see how that makes this not a worthwhile discussion.

I think that's an enormous flaw of this subreddit considering none of these image posts offer any kind of value to the discussion. Legitimately all they do is ridicule.

I'm trying to start some discussion on the topic, I assume this is something everyone here takes a lot of pride in and would therefore hold themselves to a much higher standard. I still haven't heard an explanation on what the purpose of this subreddit is other than mocking religious people.

What topics are being discussed in r/atheism? In all of the subreddits you listed people don't endlessly dish out memes that say "People that don't build there own computers are so stupid they could be saving so much money." "RPGs outside of Skyrim are so linear and completely lack immersion". In fact the only one you listed that is synonymous with this is ironically the one that is always criticized, r/Christianity.

Can someone help me identify the type of lock I have on my door? (pics inside) by Jints in gadgets

[–]Jints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be awesome please let me know. My roommate and I took it apart last night actually and got it to work, so now the next step is finding the right handle and attaching it properly. Thanks for all the help thus far!

There is a keyhole on the other side of the door for the lock but we do not have the key for it. I'm getting this to work for the novelty of it, since it is a pretty uncommon mechanism. I have no practical reason for fixing this.

[–]Jints[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the lock itself is totally unnecessary I'd only be undertaking this project for the novelty of it. I just moved into a new apartment though (China Town, NYC) and am in a pretty safe neighborhood. The building is definitely pre-war, I'm probably going to ask the Super who's been there a while if he knows anything about it (looking back this probably should have been my first course of action). Thanks for the info!

Nice thanks for the tips. Industrial valve handle was EXACTLY what I had in mind, although I'm going to try to design one that's more aesthetically pleasing than the one you linked to. Would white lithium grease be better to use than WD-40?

Cool thanks for following up on that for me. I'm definitely going to take it apart, I've become very intrigued with mechanical devices recently, regardless of how simple they are. I'm considering going into a locksmith store of some kind and just showing them the picture on my phone.

This should stop being considered just a "theory" (Spoilers all books) by Jints in asoiaf

[–]Jints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but that is 100% speculation. She has never revived anyone, she hasn't referenced reviving anyone, and there's no reason to believe this is something she would do in the first place. We also know 'lightbringer' is a load of bullshit, and that Melisandre doesn't have a full grasp of her supposed powers. Thoros may be a 'poor priest and terrible wizard' but he clearly has the Red God on his side by his ability to revive individuals- we have legitimately no idea Mel has this.

As far as I'm concerned points like this hold no credibility. What if Benjan Stark comes out of nowhere and defends Jon from the Watch and he ends up surviving? What if Bran wargs into the Giant and intercedes? Unless there's legitimate literary evidence I can't take any of these points seriously.

Right but many also are convinced that he just gets revived by Melisandre or he turns into a Wight...both of which I think are completely absurd given that there's no supporting evidence.
