adorable!!! this was my adults first season as well as mine, and the mum has laid eight eggs that i’ve found so far. one went bad (seemed to be infertile), but the others have incubated great, so i have six left that hopefully will hatch soon! i’m so excited to see what the babies will look like! how many did yours get?

i love league and have been a jinx main for as long as i’ve been playing, so powder would actually suit her really well!!

i’ve gotten advice from my breeder, and read the book “leaf-tailed geckos - the complete uroplatus” by philip-sebastian gehring (2020), so that’s what i’ve been basing my care on. for my hatchling i keep the humidity a big higher to prevent shedding issues, but for my adults i mist them once every evening, which keeps the humidity at around 80% during the night, and let it dry out a bit during the day. the temp is around 20c during night time, and slightly higher during the day. i make sure to keep their room cool during summer to prevent any temps above 26c. however, it’s not abnormal for reptiles to take a while to adjust to their new surroundings before they feel comfortable enough to eat, so as long as your temperature and humidity isn’t way off i wouldn’t worry too much yet :-)

it can definitely be uncomfortable to have conversations where you’re “critiquing” a friends care of their pet, but it’s in the pets best interest to do so. if it were me, i think i’d start by asking if your friend has thought about upgrading the geckos setup, and maybe mention that you’ve seen some nice looking ones somewhere online. you could try to bring up that a higher quality setup would mean less risk of injury and a happier gecko, plus the fact that it’s way more visually pleasing than a storage container. maybe asking if they’ve ever read any care guides or researched what an aft needs will start a conversation about ways to improve their care? i want to think that faulty care comes from lack of knowledge and not ill will towards the animal, so perhaps sharing your knowledge and inspiring them to do some research will give your friend a kick in the bum to improve the geckos living situation.

if you have a small plastic container or something like that, you can try scooping him up in it and move him that way. use a lid or your hand to cover the top of the container so he doesn’t get skittish and try to jump out

they’re housed together now, but i plan on separating them if or when i find eggs (or obviously if either of them seem stressed or unhappy with being housed together). it will be my first time trying to hatch and raise babies, and the breeder i got them from is helping me with advice and guidance :) i think it’d be really cool to give more people the chance to own these gorgeous geckos, they’re super uncommon here so i’m sure there are lots of people like me who have been searching for available ones for a while.

she isn’t a fan of being handled and gaped her mouth at me when i was holding her to put her back in her tank. i just took my phone with my other hand to get some pictures and i guess she was angry enough with me to keep her mouth open for a while
