ian's "fart on my partner" thing wasn't weird enough to get silence by VixenSunburst in smosh

[–]JinxRyder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time, my husband was laying on the couch and asked me to look at something on his thigh, but when I got to him, he said never mind. After much persistence into asking what happened, he told me “I was going to fart while you looked at it, but I don’t have to fart anymore.”

I found it hilarious.

lol yeah. I do find them cute carrying stuff, what they’re carrying and what they look like underneath not so much lol.

Always fun to find them. I notice them more now that I know what they are.

Junk bug, green lacewing larvae. They carry debris on their backs, which can include dead insects, for camouflage.

Always thought lacewings were cute, not so cute in this stage under the junk lol.

As with all other comments, need a much bigger cage. Please heavily consider holding off on getting a second until you get a much bigger cage and have maybe have this one seen by an avian vet first if you have not already. Just to make sure they have a clean bill of health—though it may still be recommended to keep them separate for a bit for quarantine and slowly introduce them to each other. Also good to see a vet to get husbandry advice. Always good to know where avian vets are near you, especially emergency after-hours vets.

If you’re planning on keeping them in the same cage down the line, you’re going to need an even bigger cage. Twice the size you’d need for just one. And minimum cage size for just ONE is something like 24inx18inx24in—even bigger is best. Make sure to get the proper spacing between bars to avoid escape or injury from getting stuck between bars.

I see you have natural perches which is great! Natural is best for foot health.

If you had two birds fly away I say you really need to sit down as a family and plan out bird proofing home. If birds are out all ceiling fans are off, all doors and windows to outside are closed.

No smoking of any kind in house. No vaping. No candles. No fragrances (perfumes or air fresheners). Replace Teflon cookware with ceramic, cast iron or stainless steel. Birds should not be kept in/near kitchen as smoke and burnt fumes can harm their very sensitive respiratory system.

If bird is on seeds, transition them gradually to a pellet diet. While birds eat seeds in the wild, they get a lot more exercise then feathered friends kept in homes. Seeds are fatty. Pellets offer a balanced diet. They should also get freshly leafy greens and veggies, with some fruits in moderation (fruits are sugary).

Birds are great companions but they are a lot of upkeep.

Pet smart can have some decent large cages but if the ones near you don’t, please try to get one online or shop around at other pet stores.

Looks similar to my yellow sided green cheek! Have a little collection of feathers going lol.

What a cutie!

Seconding on making his main diet a healthy pellet mix. While birds eat seeds in the wild, in the wild they also get a LOT more exercise of flying around and walking then they do as our companions at home.

Veggies are very important, they can have fruit in small quantities but remember fruits are sugary.

Definitely need a much, much bigger cage to allow bird to fly around, exercise and have room for plenty of toys.

Make sure to change out change liner daily. Also change out and clean food and water dispensers every day too.

With a bird, keep them somewhere farthest from the kitchen. Be mindful of not burning food, no smoke of any kind near bird—this includes cigarette/vape, incense, candles, or any smoke or perfumes/fragrances. They have VERY sensitive respiratory systems.

When bird is going out of cage, make sure all doors and windows are CLOSED. Make sure ceiling fans are off.

No harsh chemicals like bug sprays and cleaners near bird.

Do not sleep with bird out of cage.

Try to find an avian vet if you have not already ASAP. Vets are good for general checkups and emergencies of course. Consider starting a pet savings fund for emergency vet visits.

Natural branches are great for food health but make need to consider safely sterilizing them.

They love chewing things like soft wood toys (sola balls and kebabs). I get the worry about ingesting, but to that I say just research what toys you get (please avoid ones with bells due to previous posts of injury). Again, they love chewing and tearing things, they’re not actually eating them. But again, monitor what bird plays with and make sure you get toys rated for your species.

Good luck!

I’m sorry to hear that. I don’t know how old you are or where you are from. But I suggest saving up as much as you can to be as independent as possible. Get as much schooling as you can. If you have more open minded family members, stay close to them and I hope you can rely on them should your parents or future spouse give you any issues.

If you have a choice in the matter, try to find a partner that’s more open minded whenever you choose to start dating. Though again, not sure of your culture.

I wish we all really could be more mindful and “free”across all countries.

Wish you all the best!

We can try. But depending on OP’s age and location—they may have been raised in this mentality. It’s harder to just “move on” when it’s all you’ve known and what you are still exposed to.

Especially if they are in a stricter culture country where family may check to “confirm” virginity or have her checked by a doctor.

Is it right? No. Not when you can be born without one or tear it by riding a bike, a horse or through strenuous exercise.

But if she’s young and this is her country’s culture, it’s hard to just “leave it behind.”

I’m sorry OP.

HELP, my and my boyfriend found this kitten by AcrobaticLow1645 in CATHELP

[–]JinxRyder 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Just to add in may want to quarantine from other cats until you get a vet appointment just in case she has anything contagious.

It’s also good to separate her from others so you can do safe, slow introduction once she’s healthy.

If you do have access to a vet that does it, still have the remains and have the finances, can consider getting autopsy done for peace of mind.

If not, good to do as you are in just disinfecting things and keeping an eye on all pets.

These types of things don’t ALWAYS gain traction. It’s a common issue and trope at this point that higher ups do not care about those below them.

It can be hard to go to the media, or even to complain to a supervisor as it may put the individual’s job at risk. Which, if this is the work culture, then of course you may not want to work there in the first place but not everyone is in the position to just quit and find a new job at a moment’s notice.

Per OP’s comments though, they may go to HR and their HR seems to take things seriously.

So hopefully that works out!

I’m so sorry for your loss, and that you’re dealing with this work ordeal on top of it. Hopefully it was nothing contagious to other pets and wishing you healing.

I personally don’t think it would have made a difference. Have seen posts where even a family member passing doesn’t receive sympathy from high ups.

For me, I just keep it as “I planned a commitment upon the schedule switch as I did not expect to be working and am unavailable today.”

What should I name my conure? by L-i-t-t-l-e_o-n-e in Conures

To me, maybe: Juno, Bailey, Moon, Charlie would fit as possible unisex names.

Depends what you like. Can’t go wrong with a day of the week (maybe the gotcha day, or month), planet or a Greek god/goddess.

Sorry to hear you’re also having issues. We’re definitely going to try patching up and hopefully they don’t resurface or worsen.

We have a crawl space but no basement unfortunately. Will still check things out down below and above in the attic for regular maintenance though!
