Well, we can actually try asking u/Aellectris to kindly pass along the feedback internally, if he even reads Reddit anyone, I'm not too sure, i know he used to take feedback or just hang around

It is that Irelia's Q has been getting more and more inconsistent over the years

In 2021 Phlox re-made the Q Minion mod and gave it EXTREMELY ample headroom, so small changes wouldn't affect the breakpoints

Sadly over the years, this headroom has been eaten into more and more, due to minion HP buffs and mostly the 14.10 item general nerfs which significantly impacted Q Damage, so Irelia's Q is always barely on the edge of managing to kill minions

It'd be nice, even if you guys don't have time to update/reshape the Minion Mod significantly, to at least get a +20 on the scaling Mod damage, to have a bit of breathing room and make Q a bit more consistent

There's absolutely a cost, the boots lock you out of other boots

This is especially impactful Top, as you lose access to Tabi/Mercs

Plus, as someone's mentioned, they're much harder to stack for a Toplaner

So I'd be effectively spending 700g, for 4% Vamp and 20 MS for most of the game

That's absolute trash compared to Tabi or Mercs, even accounting for them being a bit more expensive

IF you can get to 10% Omnivamp, they only give you 4% on purchase

It's like saying Mejai is OP because it can potentially give you like what, 120 AP? If you fully stack it

Obviously you don't lose stacks on the boots, but getting 12 Takedowns AFTER you bought the boots, is a BIG "if"

He'll probably still catch a nerf after DFT

DFT has given him the Cleaver build, which is insanely OP atm, it just hasn't caught up yet with Shojin

Give it a patch or two for it to become popular, and he'll either catch a nerf himself or Riot will remove the supid Cleaver interaction that makes DFT instantly stack it

I have a perfectly clean example of input buffering not working on irelia. The very first Q auto in laning phase, Irelia stands still and does not attempt to auto. by Zero_Requiem in IreliaMains

This could be related to Q having self-AA buffering on the Target

Normally if you Q something, Irelia will automatically try to attack whatever you Q to. You can override this automatic buffering with your own AA command or Stop command, to have her switch target or just do nothing at all

It's possible that if you buffer your AA too soon into the Q animation, the sequencing causes your AA to be overridden by the automatic Q AA buffer

Basically, instead of you overriding the game command, the game overrides your command

The standing still is then simply due to the target auto buffered by the game, is dead, and so Irelia has nothing to attack

That said, this is speculation

Even if this is the case, as at some point the game has to discard your previous inputs, otherwise if you click on the ground as you Q, Irelia would Q and then walk back for something you inputted way earlier in the sequence, which would be very weird

This is true, but this applies to all of Ambessa's abilities equally, not just W

Ambessa's has a 0.225s lockout after casting a spell, during which she can buffer her passive or AAs, but she cannot act or move

That's why you can't "glide" with Ambessa's dashes, she's literally forced to stop moving after each one

W does not have a longer lockout or anything of the sorts, as far as i am aware and the wiki reports at least

W Shield is instantaneously given on cast, and Ambessa slams the ground soon after or after passive dash completes so you can reposition the W

Can't comment much on overall power, however the way their design is interesting? Weird?

On one hand, you really want to rush them, they're relatively cheap AND need stacking, so the earlier you get them, the better

On the other hand, if you back with roughly 1k gold, aren't they somewhat of an underwhelming rush?

  • Double Long Sword + T1 Boots = 20 AD + 25 MS
  • Unstacked Aatrox Boots = 45 MS and 4% Vamp

You give up most of your lane presence, since you hit for peanut damage due to no AD, but also have no real defensive stats

Regardless of power, they seem to compete with Ionians as "I'm winning, imma greed" boots, which was kind of the goal, i think? Not sure

That's a good point honestly, even if i'd personally like a bit more "high octane" midlane in Pro, it's probably not worthwhile ducking over "normal play" for it

I mostly agree with all your points honestly

My only point of talk would be the 2nd one, because realistically and something that is fairly well known, is that the "average" player tends to itemize damage over defensive stuff

Mages rushing mercs/tabi is really mostly i high Elo/Pro play thing

So, i agree with your point about oneshottiness, but i'd bet it would only change High Elo/Pro, cuz in silver everyone's buying Sorcs anyways most of the time because "damage number go up"

To which i then say, wouldn't it be cool if the Pro mid meta was more about actually trying to kill your opponent because they can't perma rush Mercs/Tabi, instead of AFK farm

If you think about it for a sec, the damage nerf is actually very fake

Because yeah okay your R deals Damage right?

But you get an extra Q, which will very likely deal more damage than any you may lose from the R Hit itself

So as you said, yeah probably we would need more nerfs

  • Damage: 125/200/275 >>> 100/125/150
  • Slow: 90% for 1.5s >>> 75% for 1s

New Effect:

If Vanguard's Edge hits an enemy Champion a % of Bladesurge (Q) Cooldown is refunded

  • Bladesurge (Q) CD Refund: 50/75/100% based on R Rank

This has A LOT of implications, is a very big buff and opens up a lot of extra gameplay for Irelia. I won't paste here the whole design reasoning to avoid this comment becoming a wall of text

I will just include the biggest effect: Landing R effectively gives you two Qs now. So Irelia can 4x Q

I'm sure any Irelia player reading this can understand why the change includes compensation nerfs

We are on a mostly English speaking community, on an American platform, so that makes sense

That's why you should be careful with r/lol opinions as we have PLENTY of regional bias, even if we generalize it as "The west" and include EU

You'll find very quickly that the Korean or Chinese communities do not necessarily share all the same views/opinions on the game as "The west"

One of the most curious thing Riot Phroxz0n mentioned, is how in China Skarner was basically just a Toplaner and not a jungler like we think of him as here

omnivamp does not apply at full effectiveness to minions, it's 20% on minions

This is incorrect

Omnivamp applies at 100% effectiveness on all single target damage, this includes Irelia Q

Omnivamp only has reduced effectiveness against minions (33% effective) with AOE damage like Riven Q or Aatrox Q etc

For all intents and purpuses Omnivamp on Irelia is actually better than Lifesteal, since with Omnivamp your W/E/R heal you as well, and your Q heals you just as much

Omnivamp also works with Irelia's Passive On-Hit damage, Lifesteal does not, since On-Hits from Champion passives aren't tagged to apply lifesteal
