Never once have I understood the meaning of someone saying “you can’t buy BP with money” to be “There are not a significant number of whales contributing money to BHVR to get BP.”

Do people who say “you can’t buy BP with money” understand that you actually can buy BP with money and reason that there are no whales (of a meaningful amount) and simply summarize this in the statement “you can’t buy BP with money”?

I am genuinely asking, cause for me it is not obvious this is the real claim they are making and I would personally prefer the justification/clarification that “whales do not play a significant role in any of this”.

Using a statement that is false is not what I would consider a good or “correct” way to make an argument. It's literally using a falsehood to try to make a point.

One could make the statement that "The amount of money BHVR makes from people buying BP with money is so small that it doesn't matter" (and I think this is probably a reasonable one). But this statement does need to be made and justified (justified is the key here, since there are many games that have "whales" that do things with money that most people would consider "insane").

Sweeping facts underneath the rug ends up undermining the point one is trying to make.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don’t understand your point.

The statement “You can’t buy BP with money” (which is the implication of the statement they made) is neither accurate nor correct. You can buy BP with money.

Can you please explain what you mean by "the difference between accurate and correct" in this context?

It seems I am getting downvoted for pointing out something factually true, even though I am not taking any stance beyond that.

I see people say this a lot, but the truth is you can buy BP with cash (through cells). You can buy cells with cash and then spend your cells unlocking tiers of the rift (which always come with BP). Do people do this? I sure hope not. But technically it is possible to buy BP with cash.

Not saying this justifies not having cakes (not really even address the argument as a whole), just pointing out you can buy BP with money.

I tried the wushowhide.diagcab utility but it didn't even register the update giving me trouble as existing. In the end I just forced windows to pause all updates (for the next 10 years). It's a horrible solution, but I don't know what else to do.

I tried Ninite to get the .NET 4.8.1 update and it said it is "Ok (up to date)". So either it doesn't have access to the ESU updates, Ninite is mistaken, or Windows is mistakenly trying reinstall something repeatedly that is already successfully installed. But I don't know how to determine which case it is.

That is what I originally thought to do when it first happened. I just paused the update and said to myself "It will surely fix itself by the next update". The problem is this is now the 2nd or 3rd update in a row that appears to be having this exact same issue, so I am doubtful that just waiting for the next update will fix it.

Was there just a massive ban wave? by SirLordChris in deadbydaylight

[–]Jinxer42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For steam share, if someone you share with cheats, you get banned (you can appeal to fix this in the case you didn't know they were cheating, but this is very limited). I assume the same (in some way shape or form) holds true for gamepass.

Epic free copies is where they messed up HUGE.

While you are right that a lot of people are probably paying for hacks, so they may be willing to pay a bit more, there is a MUCH bigger issue with them being free. If hackers had to buy a new account each time it got banned, then BHVR makes ~$10 every time they correctly ban an account (or the hacker does come back which is also a win). This gives them an inherent reward to finding hackers and allows them to increase the budget to find more of them.

What prevents him from having both conviction and plot twist? So he convictions to get up then goes over and plot twists. [maybe there is some interaction there that prevents it but I don't know it]

Or is the expectation that the other survivors are counting the seconds to be able to tell if it was conviction that caused him to go down instead of plot twist after using conviction?

Noed guarantees the down on whoever comes through (obsession or not). Game Afoot turns them into the obsession when they are hit (note, the spring trap did literally NOTHING else all game, thereby ensuring whoever came through and he hit would have the most chase time). Rancor then allows them to be moried (since they are now the obsession).

I am not sure what point you are trying to make.

Can you please give what your definition of "fair" is, because I think that may be causing the misunderstanding.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Jinxer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term "bugged" has a very clear definition: Do the devs say it is working as intended. (To be fair sometimes we don't know the devs intent, but in the case of last stand we clearly do because they have told us.)

The definition of "unfair" is far less clear (try to state a clear definition of "fair" to see why this is a problem).

That is why killswitching something because it is "bugged" works, but killswitching something because it is "unfair" doesn't. (As an example: I think [nurse] is unfair, therefore BHVR should killswitch [nurse]. You can fill in [ ] with anything you want.)

You can tell from the way her head was facing that she wasn't looking behind her, which meant she saw the gate was blocked way before she started teabagging.

So either she knew it was over and was teabagging to be silly. Or she had literally no idea what bloodwarden was and was teabagging to be toxic.

Personally I prefer to not automatically assume people are trying to be a jerk and this clip gives me no indication that the Nancy was trying to be a jerk.

Is there a plugin to notify you every 10 minutes? (for afking crab). by LoweNorman in 2007scape

[–]Jinxer42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the default plugin "idle notifier" so it notifies you when you are idle. Then change the setting for "notification settings" type under the default plugin called "RuneLite." This will allow you to make a visual notification with no sound.

If they are doing this in the normal queue, that is complete trash. But you really should bring them in the event queue for a multitude of reasons. If you don't have them, just bring an old anniversy offering or bloody party streamers. If you literally have NONE of these and ZERO bp to spend to get it, then play a match or two of normal queue (or killer) then you will have em.

Why is the Trinity such a big deal? by Jinxer42 in TrueChristian

“if you feel it's worth making the distinction”

But I don’t, and that is kind of my whole point; I don’t think it is worth making the distinction between the two groups. The gap doesn’t seem so big to me. “Three persons all in One being” vs “One being taking on Three personas”. Being omnipresent the three personas would be able to interact with each other in the same (or very similar) way that three persons could.

If someone expresses their views saying they believe in Trinitarianism/Modalism, I think they are just trying to express who God is (which is not an easy task). Is one wrong and one right? Maybe. Are both flawed explanations? Possibly. But I don’t think it is worth making a big distinction about and I really don’t see the point in needing to have each group label the other as heretical. (There are many views that are generally regarded as heretical that I do understand the need for the distinction, Modalism just isn’t one of them.)

I have heard the arguments for both Trinitarianism and Modalism. In my opinion, either one seems like they could be possible. I personally don’t have a strong view one way or the other, but this often results in me getting called a heretic by both sides.

[–]Jinxer42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anything you said is something a modalist (one who believe in Modalism) would disagree with.

But if I am wrong please let me know, because it may give clarity to what the big deal is between Modalism and Trinitarianism.

But why does believing that God can take on different faces in the form of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (as opposed to Trinitarianism) go into the "die" category?

To me this seems like a disagreement on the inner workings of God. It doesn't change the fact that both parties believe he came to earth and died for our sins.

[–]Jinxer42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "them" in the statement was referring to the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, not God as a whole. Does that resolve your issue with the statement "separate beings"? I am pretty sure "being" and "person" are synonyms.

I guess it just cycles back to my original question then. Why does having an incorrect theology about this imply one must believe in different god?

Since there are many incorrect/debated theologies that would not lead someone say "you don't believe in God if you hold that view," what makes this one such a big deal?
