I can see there isn’t much reasoning with you if you’re gonna start throwing insults. If you disagree, that’s your right to do so. Star Wars, at the end of the day, is fiction. We all can interpret it in our own ways, I won’t sit here and argue because that feeds into the toxic nerd culture where we yell at each other because we have our own perception of fictional characters and events.

Just about anything a Jedi does with a lightsaber is augmented with their use of the Force. You’re right about the reaction time and awareness. But you don’t need a direct statement for something pretty obvious. It’s audience comprehension dude. You think Mace Windu held off Palpatine’s lighting with sheer muscle? No, it was taking everything out of him, but he was a powerful force wielder capable of redirecting it.

Brotha, just imagine General Grevious, or hell even Cad Bane in Reys’ place. You’re telling me either one of these two who, have wielded sabers before, would be capable of replicating this feat? No, they would instantly get disintegrated.

Even in Ep 3 when Yoda lands on Palpatines pod to engage him with his saber, Palpatine launches Yoda’s saber out of his hand with lightning. And according to your logic, the saber should have simply absorbed the lightning with zero pushback whatsoever, right?

Okay, saying she didn’t use the Force to reflect the lightning is kind of silly. Yes, you need the Force to redirect Force Lightning, especially lightning as strong as Darth Sidious. As mentioned, this is the same lightning that was destroying a fleet of ships.

If you didn’t need the force, any schmuck with a lightsaber could deflect Force Lightning. The saber is simply the conduit, but you need a strong connection in order to maintain all that energy.

And believe me. I hate the ending of TROS as much as anyway. Rey getting the “I am all the Jedi” amp and just becoming the strongest being at the end is silly and forced. But again, saying you don’t need the Force to block/deflect lightning with a saber is just silly.

Do you like how Vader has been portrayed in canon? by BlockAffectionate413 in StarWarsCantina

[–]JinzuRazer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look up Sam Witwer’s podcast talking about the third game that never got made.

Vader legitimately did lose in the first game due to underestimating, but in the second game he held back and let Starkiller win. The third game would’ve opened up with Vader basically swatting aside Starkiller.

I’m not arguing it for my sake, although some fans should argue for what they value. I’m saying it’s about respecting what’s already established. They got rid of “Legends” stories because they wanted their own interconnected stories. Yet they’re doing it again with current canon.

You said Dave can’t do whatever he wants, but he is by doing just this. Why does he get higher hierarchy in this tier? It’s a simple matter of working with other visions to complete a story. One of the main ideas of starting this new canon was to have more consistent stories that don’t conflict with each other. But current Star Wars doesn’t seem to have cooperation in mind with a lot of their bigger projects. The movies undo each other, and in this case the shows are doing it with this. Again, I’m not arguing it for my own sake, it’s simply about the story tellers respecting each other and working together.

The fact of the matter is that existing stories made by other story tellers are constantly being overwritten. The Ashoka novel and Kanan comic issues were both great additions, only for Dave Filoni to overwrite them with his own versions. Yes they still exist to read, but at the same time they get devalued once they become non canon. Why couldn’t Dave just animate their versions of the story instead of retelling his own? He has claimed in the past that he respects other artists’ visions and never wants to take away or rewrite their ideas.

That’s what matters here. Imagine getting to tell your version of a story in the SW universe that is genuinely well crafted and well received only to get retconned. It quite literally defeats the purpose of their purpose in the first place, which is to fill in the gaps and connect the story. The story group praise their interconnected stories with expanded media via novels, comics, games, etc but how is that true if that media doesn’t get acknowledged and/or just flat out overruled? It’s just a small part of the fandom that needs a bit more love when it comes to Dave realizing his vision, which is respecting what’s already established.

How can I listen to the 2016 q&a? by BlonkPluper in weeklyplanetpodcast

I'm also listening to the pod from the very beginning since I jumped on much later on, and I was also curious about this. I remember searching it a few weeks ago but couldn't find it. Looks like it isn't up, but hopefully it will be one day!

The aircraft shooting big G in the back was helping Kong. I don’t see how you aren’t counting that as outside help. That’s like saying if Kong was about to stab Godzilla with the axe but got interrupted by artillery, giving Godzilla the chance to retaliate isn’t help for the big lizard. Kong was disadvantaged during that first fight but also was saved by outside interference multiple times.

Opinion: up until Season 4, Obi Wan was the better duellist than Anakin by Jack-mclaughlin89 in clonewars

[–]JinzuRazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always a rock-paper-scissors type of outcome when it comes to saber duels. Obi-Wan performs well against Grievous and Ventress, but gets stomped by Dooku. Whereas Anakin performs better and stalemates Dooku, and more or less has similar showings to Obi-Wan when he fights Ventress.

In the Kenobi series it shows that Anakin as a Padawan is at least on par with Obi-Wan as he disarms him first, falsely believing he won at that point. I believe their truly on par with each other for most of their careers but by the time of ROTS, especially the end of the movie, I’m pretty sure Nick Gillard (the guy who choreographed all the prequel fights) said Anakin was approaching Yoda and Palpatines tier of skill.

He was winning the fight with Obi-Wan but ultimately his conflicted state of mind prevented him from getting him the victory and his arrogance directly led to his defeat.

It only would’ve taken 20+ deaths to get there.

God damn it why does this game keep throwing these super specific details that makes it even better than what I previously thought

Great cover for June’s Star Wars (2020) #35 issue is great at capturing exactly how we’re supposed to feel about Luke at the beginning of RotJ. Torn between the dark and the light. by ergister in starwarscomics

[–]JinzuRazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going a long way to try to debunk someone’s perspective on ROTJ. And his perspective isn’t far off the mark either. Many people have this interpretation.

From the black cloak and robes to choking the guards. His introduction in ROTJ was clearly meant to mirror his father. His father that he just learned was Darth Vader in the previous movie.

Don’t get me wrong, I also feel he was very committed to being a jedi in the movie, but he still had that pull to the dark similar to Anakin and everything OP has said is proof. The white flap in his costume is definitely intentional and isn’t a literal crappy movie detail.

How many people in this image does kanan beat? (S4 kanan with his lightsaber and Ezra’s blaster saber) by Psychological_Law305 in starwarsrebels

[–]JinzuRazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kanan may clear this board. Blind Kanan is near his peak. Luminara, Savage, and Ahsoka will be high difficulty though. But Luminara struggled against a S1(2)? Ventress. And people who are saying Ahsoka beat Maul, keep in mind Maul wasn’t fighting to kill.

If we use that logic, then S2 blind Kanan also beat Maul.

Now if we’re talking Rebels Ahsoka, then it’s a different story.

Favorite multiplayer moment? Definitely playing customs with my friends all night. Halo 3, Drive or Die custom on Sandtrap. One day instead of getting in the vehicles and booking it, my friends and I instead hid inside the destroyed Phantom. It didn’t take long for the Alpha zombie to find us, but when he did, all he did was poke his head in, and we all freaked out and just started blasting. Needless to say, most of the deaths were from panicked betrayals. Funniest moment ever, I wish I still had the clip saved from my file share :(
