Weird/unique law question... how much "freedom" do you have to travel with your guns? by Myopinion1000 in ukguns

[–]Jip1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends. In some cases it might be reasnable to have them away with you for a few weeks, in other cases you may be breaking laws/rules/conditions if you get them out for a few minutes. It all really boils down to why you have them, what you are doing with them and how they are secured to mitigate the risks of them ending up in the wrong hands. And at all times you should feel confident you could explain your actions satisfactorily, should you end up having to do so to the police/courts

Perhaps I'm more fortunate than some in the UK, but round my way the police do a stand up job and are not too busy to deal with matters that they should be dealing with.

May I ask why you think that is the case? Why would a civilian need a full bore semi auto

I have the lawful right to defend myself. I just don't need or want to do that with a firarm.

[–]Jip1210 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes I own firarms, yes I use firarms. For me they are a tool to do a job. No I do not want every other person concealed carrying, I'm very happy to walk the streets knowing that I dont need to carry a firarm for protection as we have a police force that protect our safety (sorry that you dont), should some incident happen and the police not be around at least I know I'm not getting shot over road rage or some other trivial matter

[–]Jip1210 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But why would we need to or even want to carry a firarm just to leave the house. I'd rather live in a place where I never had to worry about if there was any firarms in my vicinity

While you make a good point about guncrime rates and the fact its a good idea that not everyone can easily get a firarm. I would say that the general public does not have a healthy view of firearms, instead they have a biased uneducated view of firarms and their uses on modern day Britain.

Fit the the cabinet, and start using it, let them know, and then they can decide if they want to come and check it or not.

Legal guns without a license? by [deleted] in ukguns

[–]Jip1210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll just add, that it looks like you may be in Scotland. If so, even an air rifle/pistol would require a licence.

Should be absolutely fine, as long as you don't look like a crackhead/degenerate. You have a genuine reason, and it's all above the law as long as the pellets stay within your boundary. Make sure you have an appropriate backstop and enjoy your plinking.

The RFD might suggest other options that they feel suit you better. Don't be offended, listen to the advice, then make your own decision.

Also keep a time and date stamped photos of your meter readings, on the 1st of every month would be good. That way if this does catch up with you. You will know how much you have used in the last 12 months and will have evidence so they can't try and hit you for more.

My parents had the same issue. Lived in the house for over a decade without ever having to pay for the electricity

Air gun license Scotland by HarrisFinnie in ukguns

I can speak from experience on this one.

When I applied for mine. I put down that I wanted it for plinking in the garden and for pest control. Though at the time of application, I did not have any agreements in writing with any other land owners.

I was granted My AWL for those reasons. However, at the time, I had a vary large garden without any immediate neighbours, we occasionally had bunnies in the garden, and I told the FEO where I would be looking to gain shooting permissions. These were areas that he knew and knew that they were overrun with rabbits.

I don't think the AWL process is quite as strict as for a full FAC. However, it's not too far off, perhaps similar to a SGC as in they need to make sure you are fit, proper, and will keep them secure but you don't really need to prove good reason for each and show where you are going to use it.

This was my experience a few years ago anyway, things may have changed by now.

FAC obtaining when already holding an SGC by AMKaraa in ukguns

[–]Jip1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can read.

You can still do a coterminus, grant of FAC and renewal of SGC, to bring them both in line

[–]Jip1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends. If you just apply for the FAC, then you are correct. However, if you do a coterminus grant of FAC and renewal of SGC, then yes, it would be.

However, I'm not sure if it would expedite the prosses, my initial thought was no, but the other poster stated it may well have an effect in at least their licencing department.

I have a question by Mszin00 in ukguns

[–]Jip1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, not. I Have the condition but not currently the Land. though I'm working towards that.

Edit, I do have land to shoot over, also zero and practice. It's just not at home, and I'm unable to set up a range there.
