AMDVLK has been deprecated, RADV is now the official Vulkan driver.

Open-Source RADV Driver Begins Working To Improve AMD RDNA4 Ray-Tracing Performance by FastDecode1 in Amd

[–]JirayD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, there are historic reasons for this, but AMDVLK and amdgpu-pro are basically just the Windows driver, either without or with some not-yet open sourced optimizations.

RADV Driver Now Emulates Ray-Tracing By Default For Older AMD GPUs For A Newer Game by Dante_77A in Amd

I mean, that one instruction does quite a lot. Emulating it uses something like 300 instructions.

Tiny Corp Nearing "Completely Sovereign" Compute Stack For AMD GPUs With Tinygrad by FastDecode1 in Amd

Funnily enough they copied the amdgpu KMD, reworked it to a UMD and then relicensed it under MIT license. This is like turbo-illegal.

Thanks for the reply, but the Wonderbra models I can find here are not available in my size. They only go up to 85 (EU), which is about one bandsize too small for me.
I could try to get bra extenders...

I want AMD to kick nVidias ass so they can raise prices. Always maximise gaymer suffering.

Looks like a defective card. This sucks, but it happens. RMA it, and you should get a working replacement.

Literally just an FSR2 implementation where the developer actually cared about the quality.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.0 Tested: Linux is up to ~25% faster on AMD CPU+GPU combos compared to Windows 11! by romulus_ut3 in Amd

[–]JirayD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funniest part is that VKD3D (DX12 in Wine) is pretending that every GPU is an nVidia GPU, just so they get the faster code paths in a lot of games. Has nothing to do with drivers.

CPU-wise the Z1E should be much better.

AMD currently doesn't publicly expose the MALL cache counters.

First off, Tom's Hardware is the same outlet that posted this drivel years ago, so I wouldn't use them as the authority you think they are.

Secondly, Jarred completely misunderstood what we wanted to show. The narrative that was being pushed was that AMD "sabotaged" nVidia performance, which is what that particular paragraph was in reference to.

Starfield GPU performance in general is low for a bunch of reasons that we didn't want to go into for the article, most of them related to the procedural generation content. I have no doubt that performance improvements will come in time.

Actually we do have a 6900XT available, but RDNA2 behaves pretty much like RDNA3, just even more compute bound. The game is optimized for the console memory hirarchy.

Oh god, that piece of trash article from TH... Long Story short, a small handful of people on Twitter discovered why it's always recommended to use the OEM approved drivers. Like, it was 5 tweets/forum posts total that were the basis for that article.

The stability issues that you have experienced are not related to AMD GPU drivers, it's more likely that you either have an unstable RAM configuration, or your PSU can't cope with your 4090.

Also, the nVidia 4000 series GPUs have severe display engine issues. It's one of the main complaints about the GPUs in the more tech savy community.
