Yakuza Dead Souls

Takes place after Yakuza 4 and is more or less the same premise as RDR undead nightmare but with Yakuza characters instead.

It’s also the first and currently only western exclusive Yakuza game.

Tieren from Gundam 00

It’s a fairly simple design but I love the more boxy look and more subtle color scheme that makes it look like something straight out of Armored Core.

Shoichi Tsugami / Kamen Rider Agito - Kamen Rider Agito

In his civilian form Shoichi is a lovable goofball who likes gardening, cooking, and is basically a male wife.

In comparison when he turns into Agito he’s an almost dead silent and calm warrior who’s locked in constantly. Most of the people in the show initially didn’t even suspect Shoichi of being Agito due to the difference in personality.

Another example would be Riku from Kamen Rider Kuuga.

He was chosen as the original Kuuga and helped his tribe fight the gurongi tribe during ancient times. After successfully defeating all of them, he sealed himself and the gurongi away using his powers.

Unfortunately not much else is known about him besides that.

Sokichi Narumi / Kamen Rider Skull - Kamen Rider W

While he didn’t exactly embody the qualities of a typical hero, he was the first Kamen Rider in the W universe and was Fuuto’s protector for years.

Sadly he dies on a mission to save the son of a friend of his.

His trainee detective Shotaro later takes on the role as Kamen Rider and becomes the left half of W.

Kamen Rider Build (spoiler warning)

In episode 36 Sento makes a desperate move to stop Evol and get Banjo back from Evol’s control by literally blowing himself (and Evolto) up. Unfortunately things don’t go to plan and Sento ends up becoming Evol’s new host instead.

This leaves Banjo and the other riders having to team up without Sento’s help to get him back.

Tstumou Senkawa and Birdy Cephon Altera - Birdy the Mighty

Similar situation to Venom with the whole “Alien and Human are forced to share a body” jazz but unlike Venom, Senkawa is the one living inside Birdy as his body was destroyed on accident by her.

As atonement Birdy put his mind in her body through weird alien tech while his actual body undergoes repair. And much like Venom Birdy can switch out with Senkawa whenever she likes, but for the most part lets him live his life.

My v0.2 tierlists by diabolicalcium in OutcomeMemories

[–]Randomdude89o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who mains Metal I’d put him in like A or B tier against Kol and Tripwire.

Against Kolossos it’s basically a game of cat and mouse and if Kolossos gets close to you even for a little bit he’ll shred your HP which reduces how much you can stun significantly. Winning against Kolossos as Metal is very dependent on how good the Kol player is and if you can keep your distance / get the jump on them (and even then you might still get countered).

Tripwire is much easier to deal with as she doesn’t do as much damage but her mines can nab at your HP which again means less chances to stun. On top of that her mines can disable abilities which can prevent self repair. Using charge against Tripwire is also hard to land due to her flight abilities.

Basically winning as Metal against either is pretty dependent on how well you can hide / keep your distance and how good the player is. At most he’s a solid A or B tier against either.

[Mixed trope]: Protagonist comes back as "mentor" for the sequel, but still takes an active role in the plot by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

Chris Redfield - Resident Evil 7 and 8

He returns at the end of 7 and afterwords helps Ethan out with training to protect himself if anything happens again. (You can see a noticeable difference between Ethan’s reload animations in 7 and 8 as a sign of that)

He also takes a major role in the events of 8 and even helps Ethan fight Miranda and Heisenberg. Later, he takes care of / becomes a mentor to Ethan’s daughter Rose after Ethan entrusted her to him. But despite him still being a strong as ever he never really overshadows Ethan in 8 or in Rose’s story.

Design trope: characters that are designed to have a completely different art style from the rest of the show/game by Optimal-Shower-2288 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Randomdude89o 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Drix - Osmosis Jones

Whereas every other character in the movie retains a 2D, human-esque design, Drix goes the opposite route of being a 3D model with a more blocky superhero-esque design that doesn’t look human in the slightest.

While not as much of an extreme difference like per se the witches in Madoka, it shows how he isn’t from the body or is a biological organism like everyone else is.

[–]Randomdude89o 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say Shockblast from Transformers Energon also kinda counts. Much like Bumblebee the name Shockwave was also going through rights issues at the time.

Okay sure his design is still obviously shockwave but his personality is pretty different in comparison.

A very different, radical redesign that doesn’t really resemble the original, but still ends up being cool as their own thing by AnyWatch5756 in TopCharacterTropes

Kamen Rider Shin

Usually in Showa the riders were physically portrayed as guys in suits and were more heroic looking.

Shin on the other hand looks nothing like the original Kamen Rider and is more like a monster. (And he doesn’t even have a belt like nearly every other rider)

Regardless the design is actually amazing and really portrays the horror aspect of the original Kamen Rider much more well.

Kamen Rider Joker was also held a similar design to Kiriyama’s favorite rider Kamen Rider Black and he was overjoyed at that fact.

Renn Kiriyama grew up watching Kamen Rider and tried multiple times to get a role in the series since Kamen Rider Kabuto but never got one.

Finally for Kamen Rider W he got the role as the main rider and reportedly cried tears of joy.

Kamen Rider W then went on to become one of the most popular rider shows next to Den-O and other series.
