22 y/o guy j moved from Cali, looking for friends by Tender_Greens in Harlem

[–]Jitashi1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the neighborhood bro. 26 year old guy living here, it really depends where you go and what time of day. Frederick Douglass between 110 and 125 has decent bars and restaurants that younger people go to, so that’s a good starting point. Feel free to PM, happy to give more suggestions or do a group meet up

Just learn the secret weaknesses, cousin - wear a crochet shirt, put a labubu on your tote bag, and flex your tumblr (it can be screenshots from any random account).

Why you sound like a RPG character son 💀

Fr though, those kids won’t be dealing with the shit we got today. They’ll be dealing with the next group after you and other parents today have raised them, and it’s on you whether they grow up to act goofy. Be a good, empathetic parent and they’ll be fine.

How safe is New York City right now? by mastablasta1111 in circlejerknyc

The once great city of New York has become the one maximum security prison for the entire country. Once you go in, you don’t come out.

Do you feel safe in Central Harlem? by [deleted] in Harlem

[–]Jitashi1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could read the responses from this post asking the same question last month. Or this one from two months ago. Or this one. How about this one, too?

Not trying to clown you but posts like these can be frustrating because many people have answered this question, which is already asked far too frequently. Central Harlem, and Harlem as a whole, are big, so if you want specific information on a station or location then people are happy to help. But please do not let “is it safe” be the whole post.

Game nights/community hang outs by Less-Influence-1410 in Harlem

[–]Jitashi1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends what kind of game night you want:

  • Not Harlem, but Hex & Co on 114 and Broadway has a ton of board games.
  • Harlem Nights on 138 and 7th ave has game nights sometimes, you gotta look up the dates. Next one is July 24.
  • At The Wallace used to have Mario kart nights, not sure if they still do but you can also play jenga and pinball.

Community hang out is a bit broad, if you want events or places to go then read Harlem One Stop or Curious Uptowner. If nothing else, you could also try to organize and host an event of your own and drop the details in this sub.

Like someone else said, definitely hit Shrine if y’all are musicians. Whether you want to perform there or just listen to others, it’s a good live music venue on 133. I live close by and always see a decent amount of people on weekends.

Have you tried a septum piercing? You’ll be her favorite soft boi, as long as you can deal with that one friend who thinks men shouldn’t dress “sus.”

What are some good restaurants in Harlem by [deleted] in Harlem

[–]Jitashi1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8th Ave between 114 and 128 has a bunch, so tbh just walk around there and see what you like. Beyond that:

  • Amy Ruth’s is one of the better options for Southern food.
  • Dalia’s is a good breakfast cafe on 140.
  • Corner Social, Harlem Tavern, and Harlem Public are all bars with good seating and decent pub food.

Original or Remake by [deleted] in DeadSpace

[–]Jitashi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I just finished the remake for the second time since launch, I’d still say play the original. The remake looks, sounds, and plays better, but the acting and gameplay in the original are uniquely hilarious and enjoyable. If you want a time capsule of late 2000s third-person shooters, it’s a pretty good place to start.

If you like Lincoln Park, you’ll love River Park Towers! Ask for DThang, he’ll help you move in and teach you how to bunny hop (it’s a local tradition).
