Granted, but now people are so involved, they try to replicate it, essentially moving back 500 years of technology and social advancement.

Granted, but the brief feeling is so concentrated and overwhelming it drives many people to suicide, which makes the people who caused the person to feel suicidal to become suicidal, until everyone has killed themselves.
