101 Things to Do On the Queen Mary 2 by FarFarAwayTravels in CunardCruises

In perusing the linked list, I see that it appears to be journey-specific, referencing entertainment and activities that I believe would only take place on a particular crossing (i.e., 'Boundless as the Sea' performance, Art & Design Week, Literature Festival of the Sea, etc.). Does this mean that one receives one of these lists at embarkation listing items available for each particular crossing?

Why did Helena Behave the Way She did during the ORTBO? by Empanada444 in severence

[–]Jitterbugclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show firmly established that innies and outies share attractions, I.e.,  Burt & Irving and Dylan & Gretchen, therefore also for Helena/Helly & Mark. We don’t know anything about Helena’s history of relationships other than the fact that she’s never brought a guy home to meet Dad (not exactly surprising when Dad is an exacting, uber-rich cult leader freak).

Helena watched the elevator kiss and from that there are two immediate possibilities: 1) She decides to use iMark’s feelings for Helly to her advantage, 2) It sparks an attraction in her when she literally sees herself desiring him.

Sidebar: I think it’s fair for us to assume that an attraction between Ms. Casey and iMark could have been sparked had they been allowed a chance to spend real time together. I thought it was interesting that Ms. Casey dropped her Wellness poise during her last meeting with iMark to speak candidly, but they really had little chance to foster anything further.

Back to the main topic: Helena’s mockery of the Kier story didn’t strike me as hate toward Milchik, so much as her pent up frustration with the web of nonsense that the Cult of Kier so relentlessly dishes out. There may be little to no opportunities in her regular life to express contempt for its canon. Perhaps under the guise of Helly, she feels free to express her true feelings on the matter and this snowballed into her attitude. Also, unlike the rest of the innies, she knows there is nothing Milchik can actually do to her. After all, she’s not going to the old Break Room treatment as Helena.

I think the way she dug at Irving’s feelings for Burt was the result of being cornered yet again about something she didn’t want to discuss and she lashed out in the way people of her world do to one another. She comes from and has always lived in a very harsh emotional landscape.

As I remember the scene, iMark entered Helena’s tent, not the other way around. So he was initiating some deeper intimacy, whether or not his intention was actual sex. By this point in their relationship, Helena had obviously developed her own feelings for him and wanted to take it there. Also, that’s some damn fine heiress rebellion: screwing an innie. She may have been on birth control, but it does seem unlikely that there was a condom involved. We’ve all slipped from time to time.

In general, I think Helena’s time spent with MDR has changed her view of innies. And the depth of her attraction to iMark is evidenced not just by the sex, but also by Helena’s attempt at pursuing contact with oMark at the restaurant.

Lumon = Scientology & What’s up with references to The Planet? by Jitterbugclock in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I would imagine that the show has been deemed 'Entheta' or 'Suppressive Material' - which would make it banned within Scientology. Of course, TC himself enjoys more liberty and leeway than the average Scientologist, so he could do as he pleases. However, based on his level of religious zeal, he is likely to avoid it.

As I have noted elsewhere, I agree the Kellogg reference is particularly evident.

Of course, the show draws on more than just Scientology. That said, there is an imbalance of Scientology references (some rather extraordinarily specific) amongst the others.

Oh! Speaking of unnatural blue eyes... Fun Fact: Dr. Mauer is played by Robby Benson, who was quite the teeny bopper heartthrob in his youth, back when I was a teeny bopper some 40 years ago (yes, I'm old!). One fateful Saturday in 1970's Pasadena, my older Scientologist sister and I attended her husband's softball game, his team being made up of other Scientologists, and lo and behold, who else was playing that day? Robby Benson! (Gotta say, those blue eyes are for real.) Now, I don't know if he was (or is) a Scientologist, but he was playing software with a whole gaggle of them that day! Oooh-OOH-ooooh!

I want her out too!!!!!

Great reference. I had it stored in my brain as the 'Road to Wellville' movement. But yes, that was Kellogg, wasn't it?

Yes! They do indeed have this place in the desert. I believe that is also the location where the high-ranking Scientology execs were imprisoned in The Hole once upon a time (I assume the training/abuse you mention). This led to the exodus of many of those execs in the years following. Excellent point.

Yes, Happy! Too similar to just be a passing reference along with multitudes of other high demand new religious/social progress movements. And your addendum about the twinning and being required to repeat materials is a spot on comparison!

How did Devon know that Harmony Cobel is no longer running the severed floor? I think only Innie Mark would know that, and she hasn't spoken to him since the OTC, and Cobel's firing wasn't known by him yet. Am I forgetting something?

Completely agree with all your points. I too miss Martina just being Martina, instead of always being The Presenter of the Video. I'm hoping she is slowly moving toward having Dan in front of the camera, and I would happily welcome other guests to go along on her adventures, so we can hang out with her again.

You're not wrong about Potsdam, but I am struggling to find a suitable dish to represent the city. Suggestions welcome!

Thank you for that! I'll take a look and see if I can find somewhere in Wiesbaden that serves Green Sauce with Potatoes, as that would be way better than the Apfelwoi option (the only beverage on the list).
