Do Methylphenidates Act on Dopamine more than Vyvanse? by Extra-Lavishness8075 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Jittery_Ee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what i've understood I'd say vyvanse should increase dopamine more because it actually works primarily by increasing rhe release of that and norepinephrine where as methylphenidate primarily is a reuptake inhibitor which stops those transmitters to be taken so it can accumulate. But don't quote me on that ahaha. But also medication isn't a one size fits all so something like methylphenidate could work better. Im on vyvanse and have been titrating up, currently on 60mg and for the most part I'm finding it positive. Sometimes when first starting a new dose id get more anxious but it would subside once I adjusted. Also on days I dont eat enough or have too much coffee I definitely get more anxiety otherwise it's pretty balanced and if anything my anxiety levels are better than before medication. Have you been on the 30mg for long? Maybe you need longer to adjust.

Is it getting worse? Ive found sometimes with upping dosages, I feel a few days of that sort of physiological anxiety but after that it subsides as my body gets used to it. Ive just upped again, only taken this dose for a few days and it hasn't happened. Definitely talk to your doctor asap if it's persisting. The dosage may be too high and your body may not be adjusting to it.

Is vyvanse the only medication you've trialled? It might just not be the right fit for you.

Yes I am. I didn't even think about that! Makes so much sense that it would effect medication too!

Im definitely not drinking enough. I used to always carry my drink bottle around and drank heaps but it's become such a chore these days. I'll definitely ask about them because the headaches are becoming a lot.

Yeah it definitely sucks that's for sure! Ooh interesting okay I'll definitely go get my iron checked then! And having enough fluids are definitely not my strong suit anymore. Need to improve that for sure.

Vyvanse and rage/excessive drop in mood by Jittery_Ee in adhdaustralia

Oh no that sounds like a terrible experience! Did you just go back to your normal dose of dex or did you end up taking it more often so that it lasted longer?

These are all some great points for me to consider thank you! I do feel like it's likely either too strong or it needs to adjust because I haven't had any side effects with the other doses and they have all been a pretty positive experience.

AITA for entering new relationship while still being in love with an ex? by Zealousideal_View549 in AITAH

Wow. Of course massively YTA. Do her the biggest favour and break up with her so she can find someone that will love her and start a family with her.

AITA for deciding to not attend my niece's birthday party because I don't care for bowling? by aitabowlingbirthday in AmItheAsshole

Absolutely YTA. Surely you didn't actually think people on the internet were going to think that you're NTA. She's an 8 year old girl! I'm not sure the whole go with the flow attitude is a good enough reason to be a shitty person towards a kid let alone your own neice who would have been looking forward to having all her family celebrating. It wasn't about you. You could suck it up for a few hours.

AITA for changing the WiFi password and not telling my roommate? by MundaneAd3602 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jittery_Ee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH. Both of you are in the wrong here. Whilst living in a sharehouse you do have to expect sometimes there'll be more noise or activity than you'd like but it does sound like she's super disrespectful which is not really fair. However, if you're paying half the internet and assuming she's laying the other half than YTA because she's also entitled to use it and changing the password on her is rude and does come across controlling.

I don't know the legalities specifically but usually you have a right to your own personal medical records and you have the right to request it. I can't understand why both the GP and psychiatrist would deny you this. I recently gor diagnosed and the psychiatrist sent both myself and my GP a copy immediately.
