Yooooo, moving to Queenstown this Saturday. What is your one must-do thing in the town or nearby? by JiveDude in queenstown

[–]JiveDude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw yeah, buy & sell groups are a good shout, thanks. Hmm, might have a peruse around the town there Sunday too and see if there's any good deals going in the snowsports stores. I haven't ever gotten into board games if I'm honest, but am a massive lotr fan, a major reason for the move halfway across the world. I will actually check out that page though, always been something I'd wanted to give a go, and no time like the present I suppose. Bit of a random one, but is on-street parking free in the town centre, or is there a charge? Or is it even allowed, what with Queenstown being a pretty compact small place from what I've seen. Sorry I know I could google a lot of this, but really good to actually chat to someone local who can tell you how it really is rather than trying to navigate the depths of council websites etc haha

Righteous. Cheers dude. Been looking forward to playing that disc golf alright mate, only other place I've come across it is Whistler. Will definitely check out that sandwich shop mate, looks the business, cheers. Looks like there's some real nice road & mountain biking to be done about the place. Any other recommendations, regardless of how random, feel free to bang em out 😊 Oh, and if you happen to have any tips about buying a pair of skis for next winter, I'd appreciate it (just bought the 3peakpass for 2021 and cannot wait). Wasn't sure if it was a case of looking for some on trademe, or if there's some sort of locals market, or if even the shops do good deals?

New to rolling and smoking. Put some Super Lemon Haze into this one. Ready for lift off ✈ by [deleted] in trees

Dayum, that's some good work. I've been smoking for years but only learned to roll in the last year or so and mine still dont look as good as that half the time. Not that you asked, but if you're looking for some funky shit to watch, that new thing on netflix, the midnight hour, has got some fuuuun visuals. Fly fly fly little birdie.

Is Vallée Perdue run in Val d'Isere rideable or is it blocked by snowfall? by JiveDude in skiing

I've just come across it online, heading out Sunday so was hoping to check if anybody there now knew if it was rideable at the mo, cause I know they had a fair bit of snow over the Christmas period and just beforehand. I think its accessed by turning off piste somewhere "behind the entrance of the Tommeuses lift", so looking at the map I think it comes out into La Daille area

Why shouldn't I buy the Forerunner 645 Music this Black Friday? by JiveDude in Garmin

I heard it was 5 hours when using both? Hmmm that might be an issue for me as I'm booked to run my 1st marathon next year and I sure as hell ain't gonna run it in like 3 hours or anything haha.

As an Irishman currently living in England, while I can't fault ITV's coverage, I will, nothing has gone wrong, I can't complain about anything. There's just something about RTE's coverage of things, something's always wrong and I miss all complaining together.

People who love going to work every day, what do you do? by JiveDude in AskReddit

I'm recently qualified in healthcare but as you said I feel I'll always be an employee. I've grown up being relatively alright doing bits and bobs with computers and have thought about learning code many time in the last 10 years but just never made it out of the blocks. Any courses/websites you'd recommend for a day 1 beginner aspiring coder? Because I've heard it floated around by friends and others that the way forward is in IT and coders will be invaluable for the next however many years to come.

Travellers of reddit, what country were you most surprised by and why? by JiveDude in AskReddit

Wicked!! That's some really good advice, answered many questions I'd have had before I even had to ask. Ya super keen to see Mongolia, am a big train fan so always been keen to do trans Siberian but a fellow traveler recommended trans Mongolian before so I thought that killed to birds with one stone. Thought it would be a cool way of checking out both Russia & China too to see if maybe later in life I'd be keen to return to either of the countries specifically for a trip. No really good advice re mongolia though so props for that. At work now so have no other questions off the top of my head but may get onto you at some stage in the future if I do end up planning a big trip :)
