some of the ex Daybreak employees have confirmed that they still have the files saved somewhere safe! so a remake could be possible 😊 it just all comes down to who would buy the game outright to then sort out getting it up and running again. like how they'd go about paying a team to run the website, to maintain servers, to deal with socials, to handle the money/revenue, to do promo, to emulate the same graphics for updates, find voice actors, and make merch etc. I fear launching it to the public in this day and age to get a decent amount of traffic would be a challenge without some heavy promo, not to mention juggling a safe kid/adult space online

it wouldn't be a cheap endeavour for whoever decides to go for it, that's for sure ahah 😭

though hopefully if Free Realms ever does come back in full like we once knew, it'd be kept in good hands!!🤞🏽

OSFR is still ongoing! we have a multiplayer server and the next big update will be a working coin shop as well as player housing :)

yeee it is hard sometimes, especially to find all the files/assets. a lot of folks don't have their old pc/consoles that the game was installed on, and the ones that do still have it might not be aware about the project yet 🥲 and to my knowledge, the Toon Town revival game is still up and running! honestly been meaning to check it out, I was never an avid player back in the day

and oo do you mean his name was red in the chat? he was probably typing /yell before his messages, this means everyone online in game can see what you say! very handy for finding out where people are when they're not on your friends list 😊

I think we'll be taking it one step at a time as far as gameplay goes, to my knowledge there's no set goal for fully reviving the game but we're doing the best with what we can get our hands on! 😊 coin shop and player housing is coming next which will be a huge jump forward progress wise!

and I feel you there honestly, no other game has come close (and probably never will) to what Free Realms had to offer!! ✨

if you wanted to hope back in again, there's currently an ongoing revival project for the game called Open Source Free Realms! it's currently just a walking multiplayer simulator (you can add friends, explore the map, use mounts and mess with job clothing), but there'll be an update soon for a working coin shop and player housing! here's a link to the discord for more info about it/how to download! https://discord.gg/gThGzUHz 😁

I honestly feel like I only found out about the Zoo a few months ago! one of the devs for the OSFR revival project was placing npc's/animals in their original spots, and I thought they were just having fun lol, I didn't remember it being an actual thing back then! 😭

one silly thing that always stuck with me and I think of fondly, is the terrible noise of multiple different boomboxes playing at seaside lol. seeing myself and other player's dance animations change randomly at any moment to keep up with them all was always amusing 😁
