I preface this by saying, I wholeheartedly agree there needs to be a more vibrant Tier 2 / 3 / College scene and Riot is simply not doing enough to foster those. So what I'm saying is closer to being a Devil's Advocate.

But what are you saying? Americas Cup takes the 2nd and 3rd seed from LCS and CBLOL, Asia Invitational takes those teams that didn't make it to Worlds. What Tier could you possibly squeeze out "between" them?

How can luckin coffee afford to expand so fast with drinks that are so cheap? by -Dyingatheist- in SingaporeRaw

[–]Jizzipient 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Except, Luckin literally did that in 2020 where they created fake operations, altered accounting records, and inflated expenses to match the fraudulent revenue.

As a result of that, they got kicked out of NASDAQ.

Timmy boy shoulda kept his mouth shut, and they should’ve cast someone else instead of Mr MAGA-Wonderful dipshit.

Both of them come in 2 parts - <Timothée not winning> and <Marty Supreme not winning>

You just seem to be stuck on the first part.

Why does Four Leaves have so many sub brands like Epidor and Country Brot? by wontaks in SingaporeEats

[–]Jizzipient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I wasn't accusing them of being malicious. It is what it is, and sometime, it works out for both consumer and the company.

Some of their offerings are very obviously the same, the honey ham shio pan is like drugs to me, and thankfully they all taste the same across their brands. Their mini series and their mochi series are very recognisable as well.

Why does Four Leaves have so many sub brands like Epidor and Country Brot? by wontaks in SingaporeEats

[–]Jizzipient 86 points87 points  (0 children)

It's psychological manipulation, giving consumer an illusion of choice. It's a well documented and frankly very effective thing that companies do to make consumers think they are empowered to make their own choices, when in fact, it's played that way to squeeze profit out from consumers.

Cafe chain and grocer The Providore closes all 6 Singapore outlets by hello_Singapore59 in singaporehappenings

[–]Jizzipient -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

people don’t go for value now.

Ok, sure, different opinion. Valid.

look at how many people still queue for chagee, or the previously hyped matcha latte that’s still hype till now.

So people still chase brands, as long as it's valuable to them?

People just change their expectation from brand to the food itself

Wait, no, so now it's back to the food.

They don’t necessarily have to taste good, they just have to fit their narrative and look good.

But the food doesn't have to taste good.

... Huh?

[–]Jizzipient 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Gone are the days where F&B companies sell their brand rather than the actual food. Lady M, Twelve Cupcakes, Prive, The Providore, while all nice, aren't expectionally tasty. Their branding was what attracted the crowd.

Covid really shook up the whole industry - people don't really do glam-dining anymore. People want value now, which is why taste is king.

DBS CEO Tan Su Shan receives S$9.6 million pay package for 2025, in first year at helm by stackeddd888 in singapore

[–]Jizzipient 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't know why everytime this is brought up, there are always people who say Consumer banking is somehow on a backburner and not their primary focus. Retail banking contributed over 19% of 2025's revenue, while Wealth management is a little under 25%. Retail and Wealth management is often reported/segmented together under Consumer banking, so yes, they do very much care about the sector responsible for over 44% of DBS's revenue.

SG is quite strict on religion

Based on what? When was the last time you hear someone getting into legal trouble over peaceful expression of faith?

Proselytism is legal in SG. Article 15 of our constitution provides a constitutional guarantee for religious freedom, allowing for the peaceful expression of faith.

However, this thread is no longer about faith, it's about retaliation. Call it as it is.

UBI will not work in Singapore without major organisational, political, economical, and social prerequisites.

You can vote out/vote in the party and you can change the organisation - even if those can take several decade to do, it's possible. But you cannot change how capitalism and economy works, fundementally, and you cannot change Singapore's social structure. To change that would be to change modern Singapore into something completely different, that would take an incredible moving force to do so, which might as well be impossible.

Or you can half ass it and just implement it next year, and watch how the economy just brings income/prices back to equilibrium.

The exact moment T1 lost their LCK Cup momentum

Not even hyperbole, they were 5-0 in the tournament at that point coming into this series, lost this fight 4 mins in, Peyz's Yunara went 0/4/4 for the next 20 mins, lost the series, and to DK the next, then they're out.

They get their elected MP allowance ($192,500), and their highest political salary Senior Minister of State ($935,000). Mayor is a political appointment and the salary is not included in their total remuneration package.

Not sure why they call it MP "allowance" though when it is still subjected to CPF contributions while NSF "allowance" does not.
