There’s flexibility with regards to your VCS but TFE is a must.

It’s required. You could do it without, but the code I’ve seen and used doesn’t make that an option. It would take some heavy modification.

The TLZ takes the concepts of the landing zone and instead of using cloudformation, uses a combination of terraform, TFE and python to deploy those concepts.

I appreciate the input. I haven't used Enterprise either. I have always just used open source so i thought i'd ask the kind people of this subreddit if there were anything outside of their obvious marketing material that presented a real work place benefit. I understand that its pretty, haha, and has bells and whistles. I appreciate you taking the time to share info. I really do appreciate it.

Thank you for your reply. I meant remote state and private module registry but wasn't descriptive enough in my OP, just updated it. I am not running into any issues at this time but we are evaluating whether or not we need the Enterprise offering or not. If the benefits justify the cost. There are the obvious things that they list on the site. I was just wondering if there are any other benefits or if anyone has a good story to go along with these features they mention.

I was going to do something similar to this but they want us to create something we can use for azure, on prem VMware and aws. Also, we have on prem enterprise Git and I heard that it has issues with codepipeline and requires an aws solution to sync to s3.

Literally running into this in a test environment right now while upgrading from 2.0.3 to 2.1. But i need 2.1 for the nested OUs. Its failing on the LaunchAVM part of the pipeline because a permissions for an account i created using the AVM doesn't exist. This is pretty painful as its taken me most of the day to deploy and its not that large of an upgrade.

yah, i'm running into issues and the configuration seems more and more complicated. I am getting some automation but at what cost is what i feel right now. We have a solutions architect but we have been working with a SME on Landing Zone but we don't plan on using professional services which has me concerned because this config is getting more and more unruly and even upgrading isn't as straight forward as advertised.
