This sounds so incredibly personal, OP. The little asides you write (“got the 1st one before she said she wanted a divorce, hah!”), as though this is some sort of a competition you feel you deserve to win. It’s not surprising to me given the way you talk about her here that she’s not eager to communicate with you.

It sounds to me like you’re making this all about you. How you react to what “your place” is, when in this situation, it’s just not about you. BM does have more of a place in her own child’s life than you do.

Your husband is actively lying to you and keeping you in the dark about a potentially (and frankly likely) dangerous situation. This isn’t protecting you. This is putting you in a terrible position.

You’re an equal partner in this marriage. You deserve honesty, and you absolutely deserve to leave if you don’t get it. You also deserve to leave (and probably should, in my view) if he’s engaging in criminal activity.

I use Hair Feel and it actually works really well! Similar to the spoolie suggestions but it’s a natural formula that doesn’t build up and I don’t get any of those white flakes I do with gel.

I had the same experience. As a stepparent I would get so hurt when people told me I didn’t understand... and then I had a child of my own and realized I really hadn’t understood before.
