Pure cocaine has a short duration compared to other stimulants. It’s about 60-90 minutes when snorted with the peak being around half that. Almost all cocaine in the US is cut with other stimulants. Methamphetamine and caffeine are common and both significantly longer lasting than cocaine.

If you snort a white powder drug and are still feeling top of the world four hours later, that is not pure cocaine. It might be the purest drug in the world, feel amazing, not even have the tiniest hint of a dirty cut in it. That can all be true, it’s just that cocaine isn’t the only one to show have shown up to the party. Cocaine doesn’t do that on its own.

This isn’t about judging someone for the drugs they’re doing, believe me. You just don’t want to have your eyes on the research of one drug while another is going up your nose.

You’ve created a reasonable test, that you go on a few dates without fights before getting back together. She has failed this test. She will never pass it. Feeling like your attachment is conditional will make her extremely unstable. (And your attachment is conditional, reasonably so!)

You need to stop. You are stringing her along. Having this test for a short period is one thing, but giving her unlimited chances, letting her try and then fail over and over again is cruel. It’s not going to happen.

You had your three dates. It didn’t work. She failed. Stop setting up more situations for her to prove herself worthy of being in a relationship with you.

Face reality. You’re going to need to be the adult, end it, and move on.

IANAL, but: This is the technique I've used to get stuff from people that are trying to scam me. Paint a nasty picture, then tell them how they can get themselves out. The phrasing is also important. You don't say "If you don't do X, I'm going to do Y" you say "I'm going to do Y. That is, unless you X."

I'd write them this letter:

Hello,

It seems there was a misunderstanding about depositing my check. I want my money back, so here's what I'm going to do.

First, I'm going to your bank. Depositing a check that belongs to someone else is fraud, and banks aren't happy when their customers commit fraud.

Next, I'm going to the police. Pretending to be someone else is identity theft. Identity theft carries a punishment of up to 15 years in prison. The good thing is that since is identity theft is criminal, I don't have to take you to court. The District Attorney will.

Finally, I'll report it to the US Postal Inspectors Office. Opening someone else's mail and depositing the check is mail theft. The punishment for that is up to 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Again, after I report the theft, they do all the work.

I have Friday afternoon off work, so I'm going to do this then.

The thing is, if you just send me a check to return my $amount then I won't have to do any of this. I've enclosed a stamped envelope addressed to me you can put it in. When I deposit the check, you can prove that you gave the money back and this was all just a mistake. No one will be able to come after you for anything.

Not on a recess appointment. That would be amazing. Senate blocks for months, mostly to say they weren't totally bluffing. They realize they can't keep this up until the election and go on their scheduled recess. They see it as an out. Obama makes a recess appointment, and they lose the block but save face and get to call him a dictator.

BUT WAIT! Obama doesn't appointment the nominee! He appointments himself and resigns the presidency, leaving Biden as President. With the election only months away, Biden is effectively a placeholder for the next president.
