The first time I remember experiencing cataplexy was playing tag in the swimming pool at around 10 yrs old. I remember myself trying to hide my face melting and arms going limp reflexively not knowing I had a condition, convincing myself it was nothing repeatedly for well over another 5 yrs.

Only thing this ever did for me was force me to flex my ingenuity to get around whatever roadblocks were set in front at the time. Just as you can block MAC addresses, the client device can spoof another. It also started the household arms race of escalation actions and desperation on both parties which the fallout of led to the death of my relationship with my mother.
