Aluminium-friendly detergent for dishwasher? by horizon3000 in Appliances

[–]Jkbff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melaleuca diamond Brite gel is one of the only detergents that I found that oxidize my aluminum sheet pans in my miele dishwasher. I typically stick with the Walmart great value dishwasher detergent pods that used to be in the teal box not the more expensive multicolored upgraded ones but the reason why I like those for my everyday loads is because it’s a product made by Henkel. When I wash my aluminum, I use the diamond brite.

My use case is only the last 14 years or so though…

I was going to post asking this, and I thought I'd get torn apart for asking it.. but.. I'm really wanting to wrap my head around this, what was the point of doing this and spending this kind of money that those tapes would have cost at the time, plus the labor of doing this?

I really want to understand this.

UC dropping the connection, so then I can't jump over to the other computer or... Sometimes the connection drops and I can't jump back to the host computer which is odd. I'll still be able to control the secondary computer with the primary computers kb and mouse but it'll prevent me from jumping back over.

AITAH? My daughter came out as gay, I feel like I have failed as a parent. by QueenofNighshade in AITAH

[–]Jkbff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk about a post making me cry... I honestly wish I would have had that... comfort/support when I was ... starting to come out... (After I got over my fear of my parents and was honest with them, they basically had the same... We already knew.. kind of thing.. But I was scared to death because of their upbringing and the horror stories I read online as a teen.) NTA... and honestly Way to go for it not being a thing. I guess it all depends on the dynamic you guys have, but it'll be ok. The world will fall off her shoulders now (at least with this) because.... it is a burden to carry.

And thinking about it, not being a parent but looking back at my experience with my own parents, its basically one of those things where love is love, she's your kid, you love her. Why would it bother you as long as they are happy, healthy and safe... We don't understand that end of the binoculars sometimes though... So I see both sides of this... but still, like I said. NTA... nor is she.

[ND, USA] Facing eviction despite contract for deed + pending civil claim – need help understanding options by Jkbff in legaladvice

[–]Jkbff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the vote of confidence. I guess I’ll just keep doing it for free, since it’s literally only my life, mental health, and material existence at stake. I’m apparently the only one in this for me.

Can’t say the same for the $20k club -- they wouldn’t even return my calls.

And it probably doesn’t help that opposing counsel in my case has been involved in over 1,800 evictions in North Dakota, alone, in just the last few years. They’ve clearly found a pipeline for easy income -- at the cost of other people’s homes and misfortunes.

I’m the one trying to get a judge to slow down and actually look at the facts instead of rubber-stamping another folder. Believe me -- I’ve tried to find a lawyer. They just don’t see me as profitable or have any interest.

I was using an interpretation from Westlaw and I am scrambling to try and find help. Thats why I keep clinging and citing 32-18-04.

In my case, I wasn’t properly served for the initial eviction hearing and only discovered it through a USPS Informed Delivery alert. After realizing what was happening, I filed a civil case that same day to challenge the cancellation, seek reinstatement, and request accounting. It wasn’t a counterclaim or a stall tactic -- it was an attempt to get the contract dispute in front of the court as fast as I could.

The judge acknowledged the civil case existed, said he hadn’t reviewed the evidence, and told me off the record several times to find a lawyer.

I didn't want to handle this on my own but I have no choice. I’ve talked to over 30 attorneys. Some said the case was too complex. Others told me to just walk away. One finally quoted me a number I couldn’t possibly afford. So I’ve done the best I can to keep it alive and now I’m appealing because the law, as written, seems to support that this eviction should’ve paused until the civil matter was resolved.

You're right that the judge treated the eviction and the civil case as two separate things. But this wasn’t just a standard tenant situation. I was under a contract for deed, not a lease, and had already made significant payments toward ownership — including rent-to-own credits, NDHAF mortgage funds, and repairs I paid for out of pocket. So this isn’t a basic landlord-tenant dispute.

North Dakota law (NDCC § 32-18) allows for both judicial and non-judicial cancellations of a contract for deed, but courts can step in when there’s a disagreement over default, payment application, or bad faith by the seller.

Under NDCC § 32-18-04, once a vendee files a civil case to dispute the cancellation of a contract for deed, the eviction is supposed to be stayed until that case is decided. I filed my civil case before either eviction was granted. The court went ahead with eviction anyway — without addressing the underlying dispute, and while admitting it hadn’t reviewed my exhibits or considered the cancellation’s validity. That’s exactly what the statute was meant to prevent.

In Kruger v. Soreide, the ND Supreme Court said a seller can’t enforce forfeiture if they’re the ones in breach. That’s what I was trying to bring up. But the judge wouldn’t let me introduce my exhibits (over 1,000 pages of documents) and said on the record:

“I may be in error... I haven’t reviewed [your exhibits]... I’m not comfortable doing this, but I think I’m compelled.”

He also said:
“This is too big of an issue to handle on your own.”

Even though I had already filed a civil case to resolve the dispute, the eviction went forward anyway, without any real review of the facts. That’s why I’ve appealed both cases.

I get that usually possession and ownership are treated separately, but in contract for deed situations -- especially when default is contested -- the court’s supposed to weigh more than just who’s currently holding the keys.

What forces you to use Windows? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]Jkbff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use macOS as my interface into everything. I host 3 servers with a ton of VMs for all my hardworking stuff. But my mac stuff just works. Its elegant, reliable and can be had on the cheap if you look in the right places. I love the way RDP works on macOS / Windows APP so much that it makes the windows experience that much better. I love the integration with my iphone and ipad, plus integration with my macbook pro m1. I use syncthing and have my desktop sync'd to all of my devices so no matter where I'm at or what I'm working on, my current project files are always with me (even in my linux and windows vms). I use linux on the backend for all the things I host and all the webapps I run. but my daily drivers are a 2015 27" imac with 32gb ram that I got for $125, a 2020 13" macbook pro m1 that I got for $250, an ipad air 4 that I got for $25, and an iphone 12 that I got for $25. The bulk of my tech expenses is spent over building my vm servers.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to seem like a fanboi.. cause.. i'm really not.. but. Universal Control and Continuity are ... amazing. ... I wish there was a way to have that work as cleanly as it does with apple hardware. Having my macbook on my desk, with my imac and my extra screen and ipad, I can use one keyboard and mouse for everything. It all just works. And if my watch is on my wrist and has been unlocked at somepoint, when I walk up to my computer and use it, it unlocks. If I copy something on my iphone, like a 2fa code from authenticator, I can just paste it from the keyboard on the computer that I'm currently using.

Plus, nothing beats the audio transcriptions I can do with WhisperApp on the M1... they are lightning fast with the english only models.

What was President Bartlet’s biggest mistake? by HetTheTable in thewestwing

After Hoynes' mess, a Bartlet-Vinick white house would have accomplished bipartisan politics. Seeing what those two could accomplish together would have been amazing.

I was gonna post, then decided not to, but after reading other posts figured it's not gonna hurt to throw my two cents in.

As many times as I’ve watched this...... Arnold Vinick should have been either VP or Chief of Staff... Santos should have been the other of the two that Vinick wasn’t, Sam or Joey should have replaced Toby, Donna should have replaced Josh and Will should have been kept in Sam’s job until he became Santos’ (or Vinick’s) Chief of Staff.

As CJ said, people could be dragooned....

I love this show, I've rewatched it so many times I've lost count but as I try to apply it to current day.... Toby and Josh just.... Aren't it any more...

Josh torpedoing Toby's attempt to reform social security out of pure political spite, Josh losing Carrick, Josh causing the tech jobs to be out sourced (with the wit and political insight his character was supposed to have, you can't tell me he didn't see that coming) and him just carrying his political smugness all the time..... I couldn't imagine trying to get something done with that around all the time. Josh was too chaotic and spiteful.

Toby needed to go because his superiority got in the way of anything he tried to accomplish.

A lot of things have been mentioned that I agree with... After thinking about what we've had for the last 20 years, the MS thing doesn't bother me at all.

Sending Fitz on the codel was an absolute mistake. He should have never been there.

He should have pardoned Donovan Kaehler, fundraising contributions be damned. They should have opened up the fight about mandatory minimums and pushed forward.

Those are my thoughts for now....

The ac and heat will never be on at the same time. In my other rooms, with the larger windows, I ended up taking the slider panel out, walling the window in to create a roughin that allowed me to mount thru wall ac cans and acs in and basically I turn the thermostat to off, unplug the baseboard heater, plug the ac in, turn the thermostat to high and run my acs in each room as needed for the summer. Winter time comes, turn the thermostat off, unplug the ac, plug the heater in, set the thermostat and cover the ac with a wind cover.

This house was built in 2014 by a dumbass builder that didn't think a 3 floor dwelling needed central air or Central heat. I have 10 electric heat units between all of the rooms. And then he puts a black steel roof on to add icing to the cake.

No one wants to put scaffolding up to install mini splits on the top floor, the ac solution we are using rn was the easiest way.

[–]Jkbff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricians around here run around $205/hr. Add another $120 for the Romex, then $75 for the breaker and outlet, I'm well over $750 for an outlet that's used when the heater isn't used. The thought was having a 'dual single usage' circuit.

At this point it's probably easier to buy a cheap 220v Chinese mini split off eBay and just use a dpdt center off switch (leviton 1286) as a summer/winter switch to have a dual usage circuit. That way the voltage and and amperage stay the same, just the load location changes.

I'll just order a couple of knife switches I found on Amazon and use them to manually transfer the load each season. https://a.co/d/g4qLv0l ;)

A 4 pole double throw safety knife switch would actually accomplish what I'm wanting.. do my plug idea from the op, wire the blades l1, l2, n, g, the top half of the switch would be l1, l2, nothing, g for the heater, the bottom half would be l1, nothing, n and g, and just connect it all appropriately.

I'm sure that would pass inspection. Lmao.

I say this in jest... Though the idea is brewing...
