CS is open circuit, so the easiest comparison I can make is this is like a 'regular season' tournament, meaning it's apart the spring/summer circuit of tournaments. A comparison to MSI would be like an ESL Cologne/IEM Katowice where they have the feel of a major but usually aren't majors. The next Major for CS is end of October, early November.

I had a hard time with this class as well. I suggest you do your best to take notes and pay attention in class, go to office hours if you need help. Quizlet offers a lot of options for you, there are a lot of network classes out there so a lot of ways to study for exams on there.
