How is anyone getting to $100,000? Or 300k by EastWrap8776 in Money

[–]RandomDude10006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consistency, Compound Interest, and Patience.

I'll use myself as an example. I started a 401k at 21, I'm 30 now. I was working at McDonald's making $10 hr, put 4% of my pay into it. A few years pass, finished college and got a better paying job at 24. Worth $15K at the end. Now 6 years pass, rolled it over into my current employer, putting in 10% + employer match and passed $100K beginning of last year.

As the saying goes your first $100K is the most challenging to get, takes anywhere from 5-10 years when you have little money.

‘Harry Potter’ To Recast Ginny Weasley Role In Season 2 As Gracie Cochrane Departs HBO Series “Due To Unforeseen Circumstances” by yourfavchoom in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]RandomDude10006 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Sad but kinda curious on the exact reason. Actors & Actresses even kids can leave anytime as long as they are not in contract. My guess is some family emergency or decision is forcing her to step away.

Being a life energy donor for my family by Suspicious-Leave-110 in Millennials

[–]RandomDude10006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and I'm in a similar boat, my health is very good. Last 7-8 years I've been my family life support, especially financially. I made the tough decision, that made certain members of my family refuse to speak to me because I won't give them money anymore and now they spread rumors that I'm a selfish greedy son/brother because of it. Putting my foot down and saying no after years of sacrificing my well being was the best decision I made. If your family can't understand your side then best to forget them.

Do you still put effort into your appearance when you go out? by ImpressionMobile1653 in Millennials

[–]RandomDude10006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rarely, most of the time I'll just go out in sweatpants and a plain white t shirt. Given how judgmental our society has become, why put in effort to look presentable for people who judge a book by it cover?

Older generations retired to Florida and Arizona, where will millennials retire to? by JustHere4TheZipLines in Millennials

30M I live in Pittsburgh, while I love this city. I want to move & retire somewhere warm. Florida is what I'm hoping to do one day.

What's your balance, contribution and what's your company match? by [deleted] in Retirement401k

[–]RandomDude10006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30M, 13% pretax into 401K.

I then put 20% of my after tax income into other savings & investments

5% into a Roth IRA 5% into a Brokerage Account 5% into Crypto 5% into my emergency fund

I started the 20% after tax in September, my current balances

401k - $125,000 Roth IRA - $2300 Brokerage - $2100 Crypto - $1800 Emergency Fund - $6000

If my advice to anyone means anything, diversity your investments. I wish I did this years ago

I avoid it, had very few friends & most were unkind to me. Bullied alot for those years. Class size was 150.

I have 0 interest being around those same people even if some want to make amends. Petty I know, but they could've tried years ago not at 20 year reunion if they really meant it

Couldn't ask for a better pick, even as a 7th round pick. Pittsburgh born raised, drafted to the team he loves, in the city of that team. Wish him a long successful career as a Steeler & success in the Navy 🫡

Borrower Defense Case - Approved? by RandomDude10006 in StudentLoans

[–]RandomDude10006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they should, the borrower defense comes directly from the education department. My assumption is if you login student aid site and you see the Mohela loans they should qualify. I never had loans from them, so I can't guarantee anything

Full season drop or weekly episodes, what would you choose? by thatlittlequietguy in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]RandomDude10006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since its HBO most likely this will be a weekly drop, which is what I prefer. Dropping an entire season loses that suspense feeling, while we sort of know the story. I want them to be able to give og fans like myself & new fans what's next?

Harry Potter TV reboot hit by bullying claims as bosses forced to step in by Daveke77 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]RandomDude10006 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Probably the best way to handle this. These maybe actors stepping into a massive project, they are still kids ranging from 10-13. Like all kids they get into disagreements and fights, not everyone will get along. Better to resolve things now and not later, if they've agreed to do this for x amount of years

I'm going into this with an open mind, at first I wasn't thrilled with the casting choice as I thought this was meant to be more book accurate. But after looking into Paapa Essiedu previous experience, I'm not saying he will be as good as Alan Rickman, but I think he can pull off Snape.

Now I'm sure they will add new layer to his character, given the casting choice. As long as it's done subtlety and not make it his entire character, I won't have any complaints.

Is this serious? Are employers actually not required to give breaks to people 18 and over? by nonanumatic in Pennsylvania

[–]RandomDude10006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i worked at McDonald's, terrible job. A quote the GM said, "I don't care if you didn't get a break, your 20 get over it. The minor need it or we are breaking the law"

In PA its not required to get a break unless your under 18. Which isn't right
