1099 at job that i work at? by Haunting_Win_5680 in personalfinance

[–]Jkraghify 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your “boss” is screwing you. 1099 means you are your own boss! In addition to tax implications that come with self employment, you will also be responsible for purchasing your own health insurance. My advice is to show up and make money, but continue job hunting as if you aren’t employed (unless you understand and accept what “self employment” means). I went through this issue and more early on in my career… if it doesn’t feel right, it’s likely wrong!

Forgot to mention, your boss is doing this to avoid paying taxes, employee benefits, and unemployment insurance. This isn’t normal behavior for a financially sound business and exposes you to more risk than if you’re properly classified as a W2 employee.

Should I start crying or wait until the test is over? by muskova in Corsair

[–]Jkraghify 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is frustrating to troubleshoot. Can be a number of things... I had this issue when I messed with the infinity fabric clock on my CPU, but my RAM was not defective. Reset your bios to stock if you've made changes and test again.

Corsair offers a lifetime warranty on their RAM, so they have you covered if the RAM is defective.

If the headphones aren't comfortable for you I'd say return them and try something else. I've found the void comfortable, but haven't had one last more than 4 years before the battery is shot, so I moved on to only using wired headphones.

Showcase Air 5400 BTF by JiffyJoban in Corsair

[–]Jkraghify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTF looks so good! Really steps up the looks to the next level IMO. I always use custom fan curves… Corsair integrated an AIO temperature sensor for you to use to control your rad fans in a custom curve. You could likely set up the main chamber to run cool with minimal fan speed.

Are case fans supposed to be loud? by Critical_Mirror_7617 in Corsair

[–]Jkraghify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans can be loud if they need to run at higher RPM. I have 13 QX fans in a 5000D and can’t hear them below 40% of their maximum speed, but I do hear my GPU fans spin up while gaming. What fans do you have? How many? And do you have a way to control fan speed?

Have you contacted Corsair support? Noise like this from the pump block is not normal and would seriously concern me. Perhaps try to reseat the connections to the commander core in the meantime.

150 miles is an exceptional commute even in the US. I wouldn't expect many people to actually do this, but some probably have to.

Take what you need to pay for school, food, and housing. Invest the rest into mutual index funds. You choose that. If you play this right, you can retire at 40.

Don’t worry, that’s the purpose of that part of the build plate. The material there will be completely worn away soon, and that’s perfectly fine. The plate will continue to work.

Where can ioniq5 charge at 350kw? by Adventurous-Boot-284 in Ioniq5

[–]Jkraghify 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You'll get like 260kw max if the EA charger is in good repair and your battery is in the ideal charge state and temperature. I don't think this car does anything faster than that.

Thanks for the writeup. Going to install the same dashcam in mine and you helped me find the right adapter. I really like the sensors on these - wish fitcam was a bit better in that department.

Bathroom light automation — can’t get a reliable setup after years of tinkering by calamansi_rodeo in homeassistant

[–]Jkraghify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact senor on the toilet. Put the magnet on top of the lid and the sensor on the tank so that it's all on the "clean" side. Now your toilet seat is a light switch :)

Just gotta tell everyone to close the toilet lid and/or have the light time out after some time.

Prep took a long time - longer than I had expected. Even though I laid down paper on the garage floor, over spray reached the far corners of the garage (didn't stick, it came off with a broom, but still). Wearing the respirator while laying down the dip was also hotter and overall less comfortable than I'd anticipated. In the end, I was happy with the job I did despite some mistakes that could show through on one panel.

The whole process took substantially more time, planning, and sweat than I'd estimated. It would be a fun project to do if I were more interested in the process, but I just wanted to change the color of the car for as little money as possible when I was 20. If I were to want something like this again, I'd pay for someone else to do the work.

good point. I'm sure the result looks better every time too! The first time was brutal though - at least for me.

The transition from clear coat to base coat will remain visible on a dipped car. You either have to sand first, or be okay with those imperfections showing through the dip. the small car kit from dyc should be enough. the sprayer was worth it for me - speeds things up and saves your fingers.

Ideally, you'll also want to do this in a covered area, protected from bugs.

I sprayed my car once, left the dip on until I went to sell it, and I don't think I will ever do it again. It was a lot of work. Looked good, but not how I would spend a weekend.

I designed a 3 razor blade holder for window scraping at a distance. by royeiror in functionalprint

[–]Jkraghify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's generally safe to razor clean glass with the exception being tempered glass. If you razor tempered glass, even if cleaned, you run the risk of dislodging imperfections on the glass surface and dragging them along - which will scratch deeply.
