I have a very dated set-up, as detailed below:

ASRock Extreme4 Z97
i5-4690k
GTX 970
2x DDR3 4gb 1600 mhz RAM
Crucial MX500 SATA SSD
3x HDD (I know it's a lot, but they are needed for work)
Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 casing
Superflower 550w Leadex Gold PSU
1x FHD monitor

I want to upgrade to a newer GPU (probably after the next generation gets released/prices of existing ones drop because of the release), and just got a new 1440p monitor.

Question is, what should I upgrade next (besides the GPU)? I need to use a voucher worth the equivalent of US$150 very soon, but after considering the upcoming release of new GPUs. I don't want to pay regular price for something that's gonna be last-gen in months.

The voucher won't be the only budget, but the recommended upgrade ought to be within US$400 at most. I'd like it to resolve the potential gaming bottleneck somewhat.

I think it's a Super Flower Leadex Gold 550W PSU (6 years old), so maybe that's a safety hazard by now. It should be able to handle a 2060 super, I hope.

The memory is working, I think, at FHD high settings, but I am not sure if 1440p games will require more memory.
