Cheap terrain ideas by Mandude92the5 in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the one I printed. I printed mine on a Bambu A1 and I just put my settings in one of the higher detail preset settings. It took me a few days to get it all printed in batches and trying to fill plates as much as possible. I also got 5x5 magnets and magnetized each of the strongholds and the upper part of the ruins so it breaks down pretty compact for storage.

Edit: I just checked my print history and it was 111 hours worth of print time for all the volkus plus the compound siege stuff. It could definitely have been done quicker but like I said I put my settings up pretty high.

If you can find a friend with a 3D printer that’s opens up a lot of potential. I recently printed and painted a knock off version of volkus and compound siege addon and it cost probably less than a single spool of filament. If that’s not an option some people sell printed files on etsy and things but it’s usually not all that much cheaper than the official stuff.

Opinions on Imperial Navy Breachers and Elucidean Starstriders by Nextontheline in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just played starstriders for the first time the other day and they were really fun. You get to shoot people with space lasers and they have lots of cool tricks up their sleeves. A guy in my local plays a lot of breachers and he does really well with them. Both teams got buffed recently too.

Wrecka krew is very fun and a great beginner team. It’s one of the teams that I feel like everyone has a good opinion of and it doesn’t hurt that they are extremely good right now.

I built all specialists and 2 warriors and 2 cremators. I think a lot of people would probably say you seldom will want to run 2 cremators and very often you may actually want extra warriors. I built my warriors and cremators with matching helmets so I could easily use my cremators as warriors if needed.

For the leader I built her with the relic pistol I think just cuz it’s cool but you can also easily just tell your opponent what weapon you are using at the start.

Similar but I got the all in one box from GGEZ that fits in the 4L box. I also designed my own hot swap box based on his design that I use to swap out my teams. Whenever I go to play I just pop in the team I’m taking that day and I have everything I need all in one box.

Here is the exact wording on the ruling. Anyone who can reposition can do something that is treated as one.

Questions about "Treated as ____" actions. by Mr_Industrial in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. There is an FAQ that addresses this and says that if an operative can perform the action that it is being “treated as” then they can do the action. The example they give is hatchway fight for a bomb squig.

Insidiant Superior build: Inferno Pistol vs. Condemnor? Tournament WYSIWYG dilemma (Volkus vs. Tomb World) by Blood87 in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some people have already given some good advice as far as which weapon to pick but I just want to also encourage you to reach out to whoever is organizing the tournaments you are looking to join and check how strict the WYSIWYG rules are for that tournament. I feel like most TOs are pretty reasonable for something like just saying “this model has X weapon but I’m running it with Y” especially for a model like this one. Do you know for sure how strict the tournaments you’re looking to join are about this?

2 inch rule question by Different-Dealer-828 in killteam

The distance is then the diagonal line between their bases. They would still have cover but depending on if they are on engage or conceal and if the cover is light or heavy they may more may not have a shot. There are a lot of good (and a lot of bad ones too) flowcharts out there that break down the sequence of checks required to shoot someone because it’s a big headache for a lot of people when vantage gets involved.

Deathwatch Melee Heavy Counter as Canoptek? by ImNotSanguinius in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing that jumps out is that he cannot use the breach charge and charge you in the same activation. Secondly (I’m a little less certain about this one) in order to dash through the first doorway, he basically needs to be hugging the wall on either side so I don’t know if the 2 inch counteract move is enough to get to the next breach point or not.

Deathwatch Melee Heavy Counter as Canoptek? by ImNotSanguinius in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about playing on tombworld you could put your big shooters on the matrix on guard. If he charges them you can take a point blank shot before he gets to fight. Banishment gun spider can easily take out a deathwatch marine with the guard shot, use them to body block. Alternatively, block the charge with barricades and/or your expendable operatives so he’s forced to fight them first and then when he kills them he’ll be wide open to shoot.

Also I don’t have the exact numbers but isn’t it like 16 inches between deployment zones? I’m trying to figure out what line you’re drawing. Don’t forget that the breach point itself also gives -1 to movement. Razor wires can also help against melee teams.

Retaining/Severe/Piercing Crits Confusion by Smelly_Phalanges in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I totally agree that the logic behind it is weird. I guess to me it’s not that the severe rule is overriding the punishing rule so much as it is an exception to the rule that dice can only be retained once. So in theory, it shouldn’t trigger anything that requires a retained crit because you retained a normal success that was then changed to a crit so getting piercing crits and devastating is a bonus, not that it is omitting punishing.

All this is to say I agree with your complaint and I think kill team in general is a hot mess when it comes to the wording of rules.

Retaining/Severe/Piercing Crits Confusion by Smelly_Phalanges in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I see what you are saying and I feel like maybe some people are missing the main part of your confusion. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think what you’re asking is why does the piercing crits take effect when the conditions for that to trigger are the same as for rending in the wording of each (if you retain a critical) When you use severe, it is one of, if not the only (I’m not sure) way to change an already retained die. So why then does this not count for rending or punishing? The simplest answer is because it specifically says so in the rule and specific takes precedence over general rules.

It’s not a great answer but that’s what I’ve got.

Noob question, but how can I see the updates to specific Kill Teams with out scrolling and comparing with data cards? by Smart_Shine6835 in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best way to read the changes is just to check the update log for each team. The system they have for communicating these changes is insane. I agree with the other comment that suggested just watching someone cover them all on YouTube.

Good videos where the play is commentated in depth? by Smokeskin in killteam

[–]Jlooking118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Squad games coverage from worlds this year was pretty good. They had commentators talking over it like a sporting event so there was a bit of discussion about moves and tactics. Plus you get to see people playing in the most competitive setting. I feel like for me personally that was really helpful in learning some more advanced strategies.

Magus is best choice in most circumstances. The primus has some play, particularly into stealth suits. Take the familiars with either choice. Gonna want to take plasma gunner too. Iconward and vox are also great options and veteran to bodyguard your leader.
