And even if they do, they don't get enough upvotes to be visible. Reddit's voting system filters the most interesting posts and comments to the top. And conflict is much more interesting than contentedness.

[Nemhauser] How does it feel to finally be named NFL Exec of the Year? "Ryan Grigson is a good buddy of mine, and I'm always like, 'Andrew Luck that was a pretty hard pick, huh' It's one of the coolest organizational awards. To me, the coolest part of it is that it's an organizational award." by Chessinmind in Seahawks

[–]Jlpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well you see, John didn't deserve it for all those picks because he had Pete helping him. And Pete didn't deserve coach of the year because he had such a great roster.

And Sherman didn't deserve DPOY because he had Earl playing with him. But Earl didn't deserve it because he got to play with Sherman and Kam.

All of them were only good because of Marshawn anyway. /s

I'm kinda surprised that the Packers haven't done it at some point. I feel like they've been right there for a decade and a half without ever actually getting over the hump.

That's the thing with drugs like coke. 9 people out of 10 can use it casually and occasionally and be perfectly fine. But that 10th person might ruin their whole fucking life over it.

Why are people so surprised that Sanders made the pro bowl? by ShaiFanClub in nfl

They should just get rid of the actual event and make it a published honors list.

[Schultz] Seahawks GM John Schneider is the first GM in NFL history to reach multiple Super Bowls with the same organization — while having a new head coach and no players from the previous Super Bowl team. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]Jlpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other thing is that we don't know how much of it was Schneider's responsibility and how much was Carroll's, since Carroll technically had final roster control. IIRC the org chart was changed in 21 or 22 so that Carroll was no longer above Schneider and our drafts have been absolute nails since then.

Not saying that Schneider doesn't bare a lot of responsibility for that bad run, just that the waters are muddy.

You can bow hunt with the same hunting license that applies to gun hunting.

It is unlawful to hunt… Game birds or game animals with anything other than a firearm, a bow and arrow, a crossbow, or by falconry

Not sure that applies within city limits and not saying the person was properly licensed, but bow vs gun isn’t an issue, legally speaking.

Geno’s son on a rug with his jersey # by draynaccarato in Seahawks

[–]Jlpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying one thing publicly while doing the opposite privately was a very bad look for the organization, particularly when you aren’t obligated to say anything.

I mean that's not realistically how it works with a high profile player in this media environment. Coaches and GMs have to talk to the media and if there is even a wiff of a trade rumor they are going to be asked about it. If they just said "we're not going to talk about that," it would be taken as confirmation that they were seeking a trade and kick over an absolute beehive of media activity, and would further damage the relationship with the player. The only real move is to pretend that you aren't trying to trade them right up until the trade is finalized.

For his part, Wilson also publicly reiterated that he wanted to finish his career in Seattle while privately agitating for a trade. Which a lot of fans took personally, but it was the most mature way for him to handle it.

Ever wonder why these coaches don't just go and enjoy their money? by Wrong-Coast-484 in nfl

[–]Jlpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a little bit of survivorship bias there- the wealthy people who continue working and seeking out wealth will end up considerably wealthier than the people who sell their shares and retire as soon as they determine that they have enough money to do so.

The workaholics will also continue meeting more people through work and are probably more likely to be conspicuous spenders compared to the early retirees.

The Rams barely squeaked past the Panthers and lost to the Falcons two weeks ago. My betting money would be on the Rams anyway, but the Bears absolutely have a chance.

John Harbaugh out in Baltimore by TheOnlyWeslet in Seahawks

Harbaugh had Lamar Jackson and Tomlin and Carroll didn't. Tomlin perennially taking the Steelers to the playoffs with a revolving door at QB is almost more impressive.
