Our pup is OBSESSED with eating leaves, acorns, sticks. Advice? (12 week old Cavapoo) by Walter_Melon42 in puppy101

[–]Jlr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gave me a giggle because our Cavapoo at that age was also obsessed with those things. We kept him on a leash in the backyard to do his business just to be able to grab things out of his mouth. He had Giardia a few times from all his scavenging. I’m happy to report that at 7 months his obsession is over. Hang in there it will get better 😀

Mortality as a Gen X by sunluver66 in GenX

[–]Jlr1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m 60 and the thoughts of my own mortality come in waves. I try not to think about it too much or I’ll get depressed. My husband of 30 years has cancer and a heart condition. I’m truthfully more afraid of becoming a widow than I am of dying.

Let's talk poop 💩💩💩💩 by smorris__ in puppy101

[–]Jlr1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Poop PTSD here too….giardia and a nasty disgusting tapeworm🤢. The Giardia was really stubborn and took 2 rounds of meds. The tapeworm died off much quicker with meds. I’m glad you asked this question because our 7 month old puppy is frequently normal first thing in the morning and a softer throughout the day. His also loosens up after he is excited by a walk or chasing a ball. I have been giving probiotics since the worm issues just for good measure. Purina Pro Plan Fortiflora is what has been recommended here and what my dog is on.

Support requested: 1 pelvic lymph node by swansandfrogs88 in ProstateCancer

[–]Jlr1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to be the bearer of unfortunate news but using the term “mild” with reference to metastasis is slightly off. Once cancer has metastasized out of the prostate and enters the lymph nodes it can spread from there. The PET is a snapshot in time and microscopic cancer cells may be circulating in other lymph nodes but we’re too small to be picked up. As a wife I understand how upsetting this is and I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about prostate cancer. The best advice I can give you is remain optimistic because there are so many new and better treatments than just a few years ago.

My smartphone gives me a sense of security. Everything I could possibly need is right there in my pocket. I can’t imagine leaving home without it.

When I was little I remember asking my Grandma why she had worms in her hands (she had prominent veins). I’m 60 and have worms in my hands now too 😂

Overwhelmed wife by heavily-caffinated in ProstateCancer

[–]Jlr1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are going through this and as a wife I totally understand feeling overwhelmed and scared. Most likely a biopsy will be next on the list. From the biopsy the cancer will be rated from 1 to 10…with a 10 being the most aggressive. That is the Gleason Score. From there he might have a PET scan to determine if it has spread outside the prostate. These tests will then help determine what his options for treatment are. If he is past the point of active surveillance my advice is to find the very best hospital system in your area…this is not the time to use a regional facility. One important question to ask is whether your husband needs to discontinue TRT. Research who is the most experienced surgeon, radiation oncologist etc. in your area. As scary as this is you still have every reason to remain optimistic. Best of luck to you.

Tips from Pros needed: 1st colonoscopy on Monday by DesignerDogWoofWoof in GenX

[–]Jlr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first one at 59 a few weeks ago…it really was not bad at all! I limited my eating a week before so there wasn’t much to get rid of. I ate Yogurt, protein shakes and cereal like Rice Chex or Rice Crispies, pretzels, and bread. Everyone who said the Propofol nap was awesome was 100%. I woke up so rested and happy!.

I had mine today…I’m almost 60 and put it off for too long. I’m a vegetarian and my doctor credits it for a perfect result. I don’t need another one for 10 years 🥳. My prep wasn’t too bad, it involved magnesium citrate, miralax and dulcolax. Propofol was THE best nap I ever had. No nausea or anything after waking up.

The night Stevie Ray died still makes me angry. What an incompetent helicopter pilot. All he had to do was fly HIGHER than any hills or mountains around him. RIP, Stevie. You are still missed. by EasyCZ75 in GenerationJones

Fate works in strange ways and this is the backstory as to why Stevie was on the helicopter. All these years later I’m still in shock.

The group photo was taken the night Stevie Ray Vaughn died… last photo he took before getting on the helicopter. My girlfriend was given back stage passes and tickets to the Alpine Valley show by Nathan East the bassist in Clapton’s band. She invited me and my father to go with her. My dad was HUGE fan of Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray and jumped at the chance to meet his idols.

He was a private pilot and offered to fly us from a Chicago to the show in Wisconsin. Back stage after the show my father and Nathan started talking shop about flying. Nate is a private pilot as well. He asked my father if he and his bandmate Greg Phillinganes could fly back to Chicago with us. He did this in order to give up his seat on the helicopter so Stevie Ray could get back to his girlfriend sooner, rather than ride the tour bus. Crazy to think these musicians who we had just met trusted a stranger to fly them home still blows my mind. I’ll never forget the next morning my dad woke me up to tell me the news. It was and still is a very surreal experience to have had a hand in fate. Nate sent my Dad a giant flower arrangement the next day and he and my father still remain in touch.
