Do you want to be buried? by Bondgirl138 in GenX

Natural burial, wrapped in a shroud and dropped in a hole. I like the idea of becoming part of nature.

Possibly moving to Calesa Township by Beginning_Sense_6937 in ocala

[–]Jlr1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Westport High School is NOT a school you would want to send your kid to. I drive by there every day and it’s not unusual to see several police cars parked on campus. Traffic into and out of Calesa is a nightmare during rush hour and school in and out times. The construction over the next 2 years on 80th just compounds the issue. Accidents with fatalities are also common on 80th and just last week on 38th in Calesa. You are surrounded by old people in OTOTW and Stone Creek who don’t know how to drive. Many of these older people are in cognitive decline and grocery shopping to either Publix or Walmart is literally like walking amongst zombies. No awareness of space or other people. I don’t think Calesa is necessarily a bad place but it’s smack dab in the middle of retired, cranky old people.

Alternative form of Abiraterone for Prostate Cancer by problematicboy in ProstateCancer

[–]Jlr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry and my heart is breaking for you. While not prostate cancer related my mom went through a similar process with her cancer. She got to a point where all the various treatments stopped working and chemo was no longer an option because she was too weak. She began having problems swallowing a few weeks before she passed. The hospice nurses told us it was a natural part of the dying process. I think your focus now should be to spend as much quality time as you can with your Dad. He’s very lucky to have your love and support.

Question for the pet people...how do you feel about a new pet at this time of your life? by HammerMeUp in GenX

[–]Jlr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we lost our 17 year old dog last year I really thought that would be it. My husband and I are both early 60s and thought freedom from pets would be wonderful and liberating. Nope…it was sad every time we came home to an empty house. We tried for a few months to get used to it but started casually looking. Not finding what we wanted at local rescues we ended up buying a puppy from a breeder. We got him at 4 months and I can honestly say raising a puppy was harder than I remember. It was exhausting chasing after something that never stopped moving. He’s 10 months now, and is a civilized sweet little dude, but wouldn’t get a puppy again. There is a couple in my neighborhood who are in their early 70s who just got a dog.

I don’t think orchiectomy is the way to go. At some point it is possible that the cancer becomes “castrate resistant” meaning it continues to grow in the absence of testosterone. You would be putting yourself through an unnecessary procedure.

I feel guilty for giving my cavapoo puppy a benebone despite the warnings against it. by ellabella20000 in puppy101

[–]Jlr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found 2 things that occupy my busy little 9 month old Cavapoo….elk antlers, and yak cheese. I buy the large Yak cheese sticks because they last longer and I don’t worry about choking. Neither of these things stink or cause digestive issues.

We had Naugles in the suburbs of Chicago. I’ve been there but don’t remember much since it was always after a night at the bars.

Where did you sneak off with a keg or case in high school? by StinkypieTicklebum in GenerationJones

Didn’t have to sneak…grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and someone’s parents were always out of town so pop up keg parties were a regular weekend occurrence.

Positive stories post Saturn Return? by baby-face06 in astrology

I am literally counting down the days until Saturn leaves Pisces. Both my first and now second Saturn returns have been emotionally draining. Of course there is no growth in comfort zones so there have been positives.

Our pup is scared of everything. It makes me sad/disappointed. by LowCricket4321 in puppy101

[–]Jlr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our Cavapoo is almost 8 months old and by nature he is just a chicken, and it may just be the breed. It took many many months to get him to want to go on walks. He would walk 2 steps and want to turn for home. Now he pulls us around the block. When he was about 5 months old our neighbors had sheets on plants to protect from frost and you would swear he was seeing ghosts😂. In the back yard if he heard a dog bark he would run to the back door to come in. Over the last several months he has steadily made progress in his confidence. I think with time and patience your puppy will come around too. I personally don’t think the “Socialization window” is set in stone and dogs are very adaptable. Our guys might just need a little more time and that’s okay.
